Pulborough Brooks RSPB Nature Reserve
"The lowland wet grassland is part of the Arun Valley floodplain and is criss-crossed by ditches which host some incredibly rare and special creatures and plants. The grassland, pools and scrapes provide feeding areas for our wintering wildfowl and nesting areas for our wading birds. On higher ground we are developing wildflower meadows and managing arable fields for winter finches.Woodland, scrub and hedgerow are all important for our breeding songbirds, such as nightingales, blackcaps and whitethroat. We have nature trails, parking, cafe, shop and viewing areas.Dogs on leads are permitted on the public footpaths and part of the Woodland Heathland Trail only, due to the sensitive nature of the wildlife and habitats."

This is the best site I know of for views of nightingales. I saw a couple and heard many more. There are all the usual summer migrants present, offering good views. The main building is a converted barn I think and has real character. The cafe offers excellent breakfast and lunch options, including the best vegan sausage bap I have had at any reserve. Bird photos are of a Sedge Warbler in front of a hide.
There's always a happy smile and greeting by the staff. They informed us of special sightings. Cafe staff served us with a smile. One of our best days there despite how cold it was and the vastness of frozen water. Restrooms: Good and clean Picnic area: Yes a nice area when it's warmer!!!!!
Wonderful place to visit and with so many different options on the membership front it's worth considering joining the RSPB The recruiting staff and volunteers are very helpful at the entrance in explaining the process. Plenty of places to park close to the entrance and its wheelchair friendly Lovely little cafe for snacks great soup and fantastic Bacon Butties Its staffed by very friendly helpful people Theres a great outside viewing / dining area with plenty of tables and chairs well spaced out The toilet facilities are on the ground level and are immaculate We have visited the reserve on weekdays and weekends and nothing is to much bother for the army of volunteers they are so helpful and willing to share thier knowledge The Hides throughout the reserve offer a very safe environment with good air movement and great viewing facilities with plenty of information for the experienced / novice bird watcher, The reserve is very Child friendly and they are very well catered for, theres a great play area and also a feeding station close by where they can enjoy watching the birds and squirrels coming and going You don't need binoculars for that area If you dont have a set of Binoculars you can hire them from the desk inside the entrance building. All in all its well worth a visit and I'm sure that you will not be disappointed
Fabulous day out. The family fun day was so much fun. I went with my daughter and 3 grandchildren all under 8 years old. Pond dipping, reptile hunting, craft tent and all at very reasonable cost for a full day out. The kids were really engaged with Lydia our guide who made it informative but in a fun way. The cafe serves a good choice of snacks and drinks. The view from the shop looking over Pulborough Brooks is stunning. A great play park and picnic area also. A definite hit with the kids.
Fantastic reserve and lovely shop and cafe where the very friendly staff served up a delicious cappuccino and one of the tastiest cheese and onion panini's I have ever had! Lemon drizzle cake is pretty good too, many thanks!
Beautiful and wide Natural Reserve. I liked it sooo much that I became a member of the RSPB. Walking on the designed path it's a pleasure for the eye and for the spirit, full of wildlife at every corner, educational and perfectly preserved.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure

Had an amazing time pond dipping here today with the kids. The lady kept all 3 kids engaged so well and was so informative about all the mini beasts they had collected from the pond. Will definitely go back again.

Full of birds, good cafe and decent shop. Hides are spread out. Can be a bit muddy on wet days. The staff are friendly and add children's trails to keep the young at heart entertainmed. Restrooms: Inside the shop. Picnic area: Plenty of them.
