My favourite London art gallery of modern and contemporary art from around the world, and it is free entrance donations welcomed with the exception of rotating special exhibitions. The gallery is in a converted power-station and hence really spacious and designed to really show off the impressive modern art collections. It is rarely too crowded that you can’t appreciate the art so often abroad I find the galleries too busy. Highly recommend a couple of hours and come back another day and see some more. Always a lot of surrealist art on display Dali, Magritte. Famous works by Mondrian, Pollock, Picasso, Matisse, Warhol. My favourites are Richter whole section of his paintings see photos. Nearly always a good quality photography exhibition in the main free galleries to enjoy. Access is good for disabilities with lifts and plenty of wide-spaces. Plenty of sofas to sit down in the downstairs main entrance. Nice gift shop see photos. Toilets plentiful. There is also a café but not eaten in there for a few years but always seems popular.
The building is beautiful. The spaces in the room feel open and spacious. The curators have connected pieces in interesting ways to tell you about the history, or message being conveyed. I'm an armature painter and so love how I can get so close to the paintings to see how it was constructed. Very inspirational. Love this place.
Tate Modern is indubitably a must see for every visitor of London. You can come back many times – the access is free of charge, although donations are welcome. This will allow you to find your own pace and itinerary through the labyrinth of exhibitions some of which will make you question your understanding of what art is. The place itself is an architectural masterpiece.
This is one of the best art museums that are with free admission. The location is by the Thames River. I can oversee the river. It's beautiful especially in the sunset. Through multiple senses beyond visual, it connects visitors and the art. All exhibitions carry out a strong voice and its own stand. It's an unique experience.
Free entry to most galleries. Convenient location near millennium bridge and st Paul's and borough market close. We had a nice wander around. There are floating jellyfish which are impressive. Galleries have good spacing and decent descriptions beside art. Worth a visit if in the area.
What a wonderful experience. We were here when the surrealist expedition was on. It was really stunning to see painting I've only seen in books, in real life. It's a big open museum. It has a free entry but some exhibits require paid tickets. Membership is available if you are a regular. Loved this place and the kids got sketch books to keep them engaged. Huge gift shops, well worth a visit
Amazing gallery with a massive entrance hall. There’s usually a free exhibit on in the hall, booking essential at the moment because of covid. You can visit quite a few other galleries on upper levels that are also free. Some you have to pay, or be a member. A great place to while away a couple of hours.
London has tons of museums and many of them are free. The Tate Modern was by far our favorite museum when we visited here. It’s a quick ride via Metro. It’s kid friendly and they offer so many activities for children and adults too. There are exhibits that you need tickets for but there’s also 4 floors of free and wonderful curated art work. We also had lunch here which was quick yet delicious. The gift shop and their art section where you create your own art and hang it up was very special and speaks to the core of what the museum is about, we could have spent an entire day if we wanted. It’s also a walk away for Millennial Bridge.
This was my first time attending an art gallery. Originally going here for a uni assignment, I ended up forgetting all about it and was instead immersed in the art that surrounded me There were a lot of displays that showcased artistic expression and social and cultural perceptions; having read some of the notes behind the pieces, I found it to be quite insightful and enticing I would love to go to another exhibition in the near future
The Tate Modern is a modern art gallery with temporary and permanent displays. There is a charge for any main temporary exhibition. It is free to enter for its permanent collection with a suggested minimum donation of £5. It is a lovely wall over Millennium Bridge from St Pauls direction. The gallery opens at 10am. There are lifts to all floors stairs and escalators. There are toilets on all floors. It is quite wheelchair friendly. There is a cloakroom. The Cezanne exhibition is fantastic and brings together paintings held in collections all around the world. There is a free audio guide with the entrance fee. It is £18 to go in without donation. It is £9 to enter with an Art Pass. There is a main cafe on the third floor. It is quite expensive. A hot chocolate costs £4.30, Coffee £3.30.
