I chose Primrose House for my mam after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer in May of this year. It was near to my own home and seemed to have good C.Q.C. reports. As a service manager of community care myself, I had high standards. There were a few lovely staff there, however, my mam often appeared frightened, and one day rang me in a distressed state to come. When I got there she told me that 3 staff members had gone in to give her personal care , and one had made vile comments to her about the fact that she had been incontinent. I made an official complaint, however to date have had no response to this. My mam also told me that a male carer who worked night shift, would come along and grab her private area to ascertain whether or not she needed changing. My mam was fully compus mentis and was appalled and embarrassed at this procedure. I took her out of the place with the help of the wonderful MacMillan nurses that same week, and she went home where she passed away on the 7th June 2017. In fairness, there were a few nice caring staff, but some of the ones I saw and heard speaking to some of the residents should not be working in care. All of my mams nighties went missing, and when she came home she was wearing somebody elses nightie, and underwear.
A fantastic home with all team members working together for residents and their loved ones.. brilliant.. keep up the hard work
