Visited this shop on Christmas eve having spotted earrings I liked in the window. Lots of unusual gift ideas inside and we purchased a few, which the lady Christmas wrapped for us. The two ladies who served us were very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be coming here again.
Went in to buy a little wallet and asked if it was real leather. The shopkeeper said, yes. Taking a closer look I opined, as I frequently work with leather, that, perhaps, one side was leather and another could be artificial. That would not contradict the signage on the wallet and probably wouldn't stop me from buying either as the picture on the "suspect side" was cute. Yet the shopkeeper pulled the wallet out of my hands and ran into the back room refusing to sell. "He felt offended", explained his colleague. Strange that we still occasionally go to a high street, as opposed to ordering things online or buying from the large stores, in order to touch the goods and have a conversation with the keepers, yet the keepers themselves are undermining themselves so blatantly.
Gorgeous shop with beautiful and stylish jewelry, bags, scarf's etc and lovely scents - candles and incense. Has a cool range of reading glasses too. Staff are helpful and friendly. A must visit in Broadstairs in my opinion .
I am an expatriate who has lived in England for more than 5 years and I have to say that I have never experienced what I have seen today and I have never felt like this before: how someone who works in a shop and is supposed to have a customer service focus, can be such a rude and I would also say, racist person?? I have walked into the shop with my Italian friend this morning. She wanted to get something for her family and take it with her back at home. We started talking about what she should buy and suddenly, we heard a voice shouting: "can you stop talking, I cannot even think?!!", I answered back "sorry, what?" and he got his upset and angry face back to speak with the other person working in the shop: "Uff... God... my head!". I looked at him again, I was in shock; and he came back to me: "yes, stop talking!!". I just said good bye and we left the shop I have manners . We hadn’t even been there for 2 min neither spoke loud. It clearly stated the lack of customer service, racism and lack of professionalism of the staff of this place. There are many ways to say the things and I guess the way to approach the situation in that way is because he could not stand with someone talking in another language for the way of his reaction. The latest is what more worries me. I am completely fluent in English and if I did not speak in English at the time is because my friend did not speak it and she needed some translation to buy from your shop. Honestly, I cannot believe that in the 21st century it is still happening. Broadstairs is a seaside village where most of the summer income is coming from the English school in the local area and the tourism. How someone can be so so rude and disrespectful l with someone. At least, you could have shown a bit of professionalism although you are a racist! we were customer at the end of the day. Also, please align the values of your shop with what you delivery. It is funny you are selling Astra spirituals articles stuffs and you cannot even work out that all the people are human, either you are English and speak English, I am a French and speak French and my friend is Italian and speaks Italian...
