Rating this as a Golf Tour Bus Driver / Chauffeur Staff at reception on arrival and Caddies are all excellent as well as the course itself as clients informed me. There is a Good Pro Shop and Good club house that offers good food. But for me as a golf tour bus driver that's where the good things end. As a Golf tour bus driver we are not allowed park anywhere in the Large carpark and are made park out of sight of the clubhouse in a field so on a wet day you have no choice but to walk through a wet grass field in the rain and get wet like what happened me if you want something to eat or even to go to the toilet as the clubhouse is the only facility available, it's a long walk down to the clubhouse from the field they offer as a parking area for us and there is no footpath so we have to walk on the entrance and exit road and on a wet day there is a lot of puddles of water to go through and you have the view of the large carpark with footpaths and no puddles as you walk. When we inform the clients this is the protocol here they too are not happy as they class their driver as part of their group and find it a bit distasteful and disrespectful for such a prestigious golf club as even the 8 golfers I had this day had to walk out the road in the rain and get onto the bus from a wet field This is the only course in the 40+ I've driven clients to that have this type of protocol with golf tour bus drivers so if you are planning a golf trip around Ireland that involves a golf tour bus for transport to and from courses then consider this protocol that is in place here as it may not suit all golf tour drivers. This honest review is based on the most recent visit to the club July 2023
Loved the course and my pre-game walk around the clubhouse. The history in this club is amazing. Honoured to have played there today. Recommended.
Great conditions tee to green. Firm but fair and consistent. Caddie service is great, we had Owen who was very helpful. Enjoyable layout. Breathtaking views on the water holes. Championship course.
Played 11/25/2022 after stepping straight off a plane from Newark. Golf game was bad, but the course was great. Green complexes are extremely challenging and the ground plays consistently firm from tee to green. A course I could play everyday! Not as bold as some of the Irish links, but extremely consistent and always challenging. When you do pop out on to the coastline holes, it is breathtaking.
Didn't play this course but my eight traveling companions did - they loved it, even if it wasn't kind to them Staff there are lovely and helpful. The restaurant is an oasis of calm and relaxation - having a good choice of foodstuffs and beverages. Recommended
One of the best courses in Ireland. High recommend.
Portmarnock golf club rightly deserves all the accolades they get , it is definitely one of the best golf courses in Ireland and all the staff and players were extremely friendly and helpful. Had the pleasure of playing it off the blue tees which are roughly 7,500 yards definitely the longest course I have ever played and it is in magnificent condition. Definitely a must play on your bucket list
Steve the starter at the first teebox is a delight and tells you a good and funny story of the property. Also the course is in a good shape and bot easy to play. Short but difficult links course.
It's an experience in It's self. You can feel the history as you walk down the fairways and imagine playing the Irish open. Absolutely loved the course. Every hole is different. People are very friendly.
World class. Probably my favourite place to golf.
