Many reasons to visit this site. Initially to say goodbye to a loved one or friend. Annually to remember and celebrate the life lived. Later to contemplate a coming reunion. So many emotions in such a tranquil place. Thankyou.
My mother in law funeral last Thursday and the lady talking her phone went off 3 times in the service and she didn't read out a poem which was written by her son. After no sorry about phone nothink and totally rushed more than normal. Who has there phone on come on its so disgusting.
The grounds here are kept beautiful. The people who work here work so hard to keep it looking lovely for people to visit. It's a shame people think they can put their own personal items, staple things to trees etc down where their loved one are. Especially when there are rules which state you shouldn't do this. There are many people's ashes on one plot, not just your loved ones. So it isn't personally yours to do what you want with, it is lots of families plot to sit and remember aswell. If you want to have a personal tribute to your loved one than either do it at home or get a gravestone made for the cemetery up the road. That way you can put what you want on your own personal plot. I have lots of relatives here and I don't feel the need to put down tat and ruin a lovely space for people to visit. I respect the hard work of the groundsman who work here, and that it isn't just my family members who are here it is lots of other people's family members who are here aswell. The people who work here do not need or deserve to be abused by members of the public because they think they can take over a plot of garden which is there for 1000's of families not just a few individuals who think they are more important than everybody else.
the building is old but what beautiful gardens! well maintained by the gardeners who i don't think get enough credit. it's not the first thing you see on arrival due to most of it hiding behind the building.. but i think it's a hidden gem! and a lovely place to lay someone to rest. ..
Very disappointed, we only lost our dear dad in Jan this year, we planted two miniature roses and his fave flower a purple petunia on fathers day, have been down regularly to water. when i visited on Sunday 12th all had been removed, even a painted stone with dads name on had gone. There was a notice pinned to nearby post stating all plants etc were going to be removed beginning of August but ours have gone already giving us no time to do it ourselves. All of us very upset to this disregard of feelings.
Myself and my family/relatives visited Portchester Crematorium in mid May to lay my Mum and Dads ashes to rest. The grounds are meticulously maintained and Alan the Groundsman was extremely helpful and very personable thanks Al. I also had dealings prior to, and afterwards, with Helen in the office who was also very helpful and provided a first class service. My only negative comment was on arrival when we were met by Sarah. Her demeanour was not what I would have expected from a front of house person who is meant to welcome you and be compassionate and understanding. Sadly she failed in all respects! Other than this our overall experience was a positive one. I’d highly recommend it to anyone wanting to lay their loved ones to rest.
Lovely peaceful place , to bring our flowers and sit and think about our loved one's. The garden's are beautiful and change with the seasons.
My great grandparents and godmother have been laid to rest here. I love this crem as it’s beautiful and as a train fanatic it’s right next to the railway line. I don’t live in Portsmouth so I’d want to be near my children when the time for me to die comes but if I did live in Portsmouth or my children lived in Portsmouth I’d want to go here for my final resting place hopefully I would have been able to donate my organs first. I’d want to be right next to the railway line. I know it sounds strange but for me I love the fact I can pay my respects and watch the trains. I regularly have to get a train from Poole to cosham and often pass this crematorium
think these people are utterly discusting & dissrespectful had my mum cremated and ashes burried here, ive put stones, flower holders, planted flowers, and a mixture of other things to which has all be removed each time ive placed them down, not impressed wont be having anymore family members cremated here, its like they want you to visit and stare at the turf!! sort this out
Deeply regret choosing here for my Dad's final resting place. Our Flowers are regularly removed from plot with no regard to our feelings.
