We have just got home from a day at a safari. Park and grounds are beautiful and well kept. Animals seem happy and well looked after. We booked the Safari and have been on a few safari type experiences in the UK. This by far, was the most boring. We barely see any animals and when we did most were at a great distance except for the giraffes. It was a glorified taxi service around the grounds. If you are a wheelchair user or buggy user then forget it! It’s all uphill and lots of stairs to climb. I can imagine children getting very tired. The food and drinks were ok and overpriced. All in all, we had a good day. But there are far more interactive experiences with animals around the UK at a similar price. I feel even some zoo’s you get a closer look at the animals. We won’t be returning.
Stayed at Lion Lodge overnight and wow, what an experience..... The lodge was pure luxury and being able to sit next to the lions was amazing. All the staff were so helpful and friendly and made this a truly memorable time. Also booked a AAA Safari - this is highly recommended. Will, our ranger, was so knowledgeable, funny and friendly. The real highlight for me was hand feeding the black rhino and stroking the white rhino. A most enjoyable 2.5 hours roaming the reserve. Restrooms: Always clean
Fantastic day at Port Lympne. I was amazed how knowledgeable the lady that took us on the safari was. I would 100 per cent recommend. The safari took about an hour. Driving round at about 5mph. Information on all animals and the zoo. The ride was very comfortable and the animals are clearly seen. Some animals standing around in front the truck very funny.
The Safari was such an enjoyable experience for all of us, suitable for all age. Some of the animals have a spacious natural ground to explore around, I suppose similar to their natural habitat. So don’t think of this park like an ordinary zoo please. The restaurant’s interior was most fond by me, 30-40 for two adult plus a child which is acceptable. Applause for the chefs here, the beef burger and lamb kofta were absolutely amazing! Great free parking space, though the extended grass parking could be very muddy and splashy around the wheels after the rain. The staff were lovely and polite, attentive and happy to offer info to new visitors. A good selection of souvenirs.
We as a couple visit zoo's all over the country and this is up there as one of the best so far. From the get go the staff couldn't have been better they all were helpful, polite and informative throughout the day. This zoo is very hard work for people with mobility issues as I am but there was plenty of benches for me to rest on and get my breath back. We were both impressed with the animals enclosures, they were all a good size with plenty of objects in them to keep them entertained and they were all well kept as well. We both agree that the safari being included in the entry price was a great touch, the safari driver seemed to have a wealth of information regarding all the animals we came across. All in all a great day out thoroughly enjoyed.
More than expected. From the start the staff were friendly and helpful. The park was muddy and a lot of walking was involved, but we don't have mobility issues so this was fine. 1st class service. Beautiful park with well cared for animals. Good project to support. It was the little details that made it perfect. Would recommend to anyone that can walk well.
Agree with many other reviewers, if you buy standard day ticket with safari, it’s not worth a visit. The directions and signposting is useless and we almost missed the safari. We had to hurry with two buggies and just made it but the safari was not a great experience. We could hardly see anything, the truck does not pause at all for the few animals that are there, only for gates and other vehicles. Children were so excited before going but came away very disappointed. I think the only people that would like this place is those that spend a night in one of the expensive accommodations and book lots of encounters. If you think you can see more by walking, you can’t; a number of animals are only accessible by safari truck or private tours. If you walk it, you’re not even allowed in areas that have giraffe etc. And walking is more like hiking, forget about anyone that has a disability or accessibility issue. The pair of lions near the tigers are hidden away so you may not see them at all. The lion and tiger areas that are accessible are amusements for the attached accommodations, because whilst they are in these spaces, they don’t have much more room then at a standard zoo. I don’t understand why they offer day tickets as they clearly don’t value day visitors. Don’t get me started on the rubbish food and prices in their cafes and the ridiculous overpriced souvenir toys.
This is a lovely day out, cheaper to buy the yearly ticket. Save your pennies for the souvenir shop. The staff are absolutely excellent, friendly, helpful and have the best job in the world. The safari drivers are very knowledgeable and makes the tour so much more interesting when they tell you about the personalities of the animals, absolutely wonderful day out. Lots to explore and see. Not one depressed or unhappy animal in sight. Fantastic
Beautiful quality safari park with lots of space & activities for the wondrous animals. The grounds are stunning including the garden, mansion hotel, skylit restaurant, the overnight cabins are amazing bit pricey in some areas, as is the delicious food. Golf buggy lifts are fun but hold on super tight to your little ones - our 3 year old very nearly fell off the rear-facing back seats due to the acceleration! Scary! Unforgettable. Will definitely return. Playground: Several family-focused playgrounds with fun climbing frames including a dinosaur or 2.
Our stay was great even though it was raining all time. Three important things were missing in the park. First, there were no recycling facilities in the tree house or the entire complex. It was very disappointing because in a place like this, protecting nature and minimising waste & harm must be the number 1 priority and recycling is a must-have. Second, complementary bottled water in the accommodation. We were surprised to see that there was not a single bottle of water in the tree house and that all water was for an extra charge of £4 a bottle and the only way to get it we to go all the way down to the common area during heavy rain. At least two complimentary bottles of water are also a must-have in accommodation where you pay more than £700 per night. Number three is a lack of vegan food. The good thing was to see at least one main and some sides at the Main Restaurant, but at the Cafe and Pizzeria, there was almost nothing to eat for vegans, that's why we had to book an entire tree house with the kitchen and cook ourselves. Apart from that, everything was lovely. We had an encounter with giraffes and walked all around the park - it was delightful to see that the animals were taken excellent care of. We hope our comments will be considered, and next time we come, our stay will be even more pleasant and joyful! One more important thing - check the weather before coming here because if it's raining, you won't be able to see much. Thank you for your hard work.
