Food is the main reason for my five stars, simply the best sushi i've ever tried, the soft shell crab, the blue tuna and the salmon are so fresh and tasty to die for. Cocktails are also very good, the pop art sour with wasabi was a really interesting one. Service was also very good, friendly but not too invasive as i like. Good job
Favourite sushi restaurant, excellent sushi worth the high price. Went there on my birthday wasn't it expecting to be so great, have been three times now. I've used tastecard when i've been here and the waiter has been patient explaining it as it is a little bit complicated, but well worth it. Hidden away but super cool vibe and deco. Wish there were more of these around. Would highly recommend. A**
I was invited to Pop Art Sushi this Friday evening by a friend who is a huge fan of the place. As I explained to her, I have insultingly high standards when it comes to sushi... I was not disappointed! They nailed it! Fish was salty fresh as sea air, staff were totally amazing and hospitable, the décor is AMAZING seriously, it doubles as an art gallery! and the saki was... well... good saki : Thank you guys! Already looking forward to my next visit! Haven't been able to get the delicious taste of those crispy salmon bites out of my head for days
Beautiful pop art gallery, with interesting contemporary artworks of Italian and American artists all around the restaurant. The sushi is freshly prepared in front of you, so you have to wait a little, but the quality is amazing, the best i've ever tried in London! The soft shell crab is crispy and delicious, but also the salmon in general is the best quality i've ever tried! Amazing value for the quality, the Italian wine Gavi di Gavi was the perfect combination, elegant and fresh: perfect for sushi! Friendly owners, very attentive and always smiling, beautiful atmosphere for a romantic dinner!
Amazing sushi, amazing service! I've loved the music of Pop Art Sushi... My friends were happy and astonished from the location full of colours and Artworks. Whenever we will come to London, we always will visit you.... Ever and Ever
It's seriously overpriced and no wonder there were two tables of guest on Friday evening. Sushi here is average quality, not substantially better than itsu or the likes but five times more expensive. we paid over £100 for a glass of wine, a miserable tiny miso soup and five pieces of sushi. That's 35 per person and we were starving after eating here. Try to avoid this place.
Ordered from them via Deliveroo and had very disappointing food. The Salmon was fine but the prawn tempura was stale, the prawns were tiny, and the tuna tasted fishy. We have had decent sushi from them before but it feels like the standard has really slipped. The sushi itself was also poorly made, like homemade sushi with too much rice and overcooked. Please sort it out and don't assume Deliveroo customers don't know decent sushi
The other reviews do not lie when they raved about this little gem of a restaurant. It's tucked away just off the busy roads around Vauxhall station. The sushi was fantastic and the service was wonderful. It's owned and run by an Italian couple that obviously love their business and their customers. We even had a go at playing a 70's Tomy ball game! Very fun! Superb pop art surrounds the walls. A perfect change from consistent, characterless and placid vibe/quality of chain restaurants.
My partner and I had a meal here last night, and overall, I would say it was fine. The fish itself is delicious, with generous proportions, and the owner is very friendly, but there are several things that were odd about the night: 1. We walked in and stood at the front counter for several minutes; I was able to see the owner/host standing in the kitchen eating. He even looked over at us once and continued to eat before coming to greet us a couple minutes later. 2. All maki and uramaki rolls are 4 pieces each, making them large to bite and likely to fall apart. Also, be warned if you're ordering spicy maki rolls: this means that your roll will be dusted with chilli powder too much chilli powder, which is overwhelming and causes you not to be able to taste the fish. 3. We specifically ordered an appetiser sweet potato croquettes and said we'd like to start with it; it came out after three of our four maki rolls. The croquettes were also a little bland and I would likely not order them again. 4. Along the lines of above, the food came out very staggered. I am one who likes to start with my specified appetiser and then receive all of the main food at once particularly with sushi, so I don't have to eat one whole flavour at once. We ordered 4 rolls. The first two came out in a few minutes, with the third coming out 10 minutes later, and the appetiser and last roll coming out several minutes after that. It was too spread out, even though I understand there was only one chef in the kitchen. 5. The owner, though very friendly and accommodating, seemed very out of sorts for there only being two tables occupied in the restaurant. He also spent parts of our meal wandering around the restaurant loudly singing to the music, or talking on speakerphone! to what I believe was a delivery service because they sent a driver too early. 6. I like the pop art theme, but I'm not sure it makes sense with the food. I expected the art to be mirrored in the food somehow, presented in a fun or decorative way, but that was not so. As a result, it seemed very mis-matched, like the owner decided they liked sushi and they liked pop art, but didn't think about how those two things worked together. Overall, the food was yummy and the service very friendly. I just prefer a more cohesive, attentive atmosphere when I dine out, and Pop Art Sushi didn't quite deliver.
A fantastic little sushi nook! Great atmosphere, the owner is obviously passionate about his sushi and service, and the chef whips up both traditional and some unique sushi dishes. Highly recommend this spot if you are into sushi and in the area!
