Lovely experience. Tour guide was friendly and helpful. The experience overall was very good, the I formation part of the tour is interesting and the use of humour kept it interesting. The path through the cavern is mostly flat with some steps some of which were a little steep but manageable. There are 2 low areas to pass through at just under 6ft.
Most spectacular cave I've been in, and I've been in a few. Stalactites and stalagmites all over the place, such a fantastic history. Guide was lovely and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend booking early as groups are fairly small and it's gets booked up quickly. Well worth it. Can walk around the country park too, different level paths- can be hard walking as all uphill , nice statues to come across though
Large car park. You have to pay. £3 for 4 hours .. This car park is also the entrance area to Go Ape. Once parked there are several walks that you can do. One of then is straight through the forest and takes you up a hill to Solomons Temple. A nice monument to see with excellent landscape views. The paths are rocky in places. Not the best for buggies, but fine for children and dogs. Dogs are allowed off lead in this area and by the temple, and most are.. A gift shop by the car park and a cafe plus toilets. Outside eating area and some tables in the shade. Picnic benches. The hot chocolate is recommended!! Great place for families to visit.
Really amazing experience. The cave is absolutely massive and you learn a lot about it’s geology and geomorphology. The guide was very kind and even showed us some of the bats that live in the cave. Would recommend booking ticket online because it can get very busy. Only downside was we had to wait 10 minutes for 2 coffees at the cafe.
Lovely experience seeing inside the cavern. Our tour guide Isaac was fantastic, lots of interesting facts and funny little jokes. I am not one for caves, however this cavern didn't have such a claustrophobic feel, the pathway is quite generous in size and its adequately lit. The tour was full of information and there was plenty of chances to take photos/ask questions. Thank you Isaac for an enjoyable tour. Highly recommend.
Lesson the day. Don't touch things. What an amazing experience. That was my first time visiting a place like that and didn't know where or what I was heading... In the first instant, I thought...I don't like this, cold and wet. But what a magical experience I loved. Each place takes you to another embodiment and everything seems to be alive. My best take from that magical experience is don't touch things to respect and protect the nature of life Yes, I do recommend Poole's Cavern.
Absolutely worth heading here if you get a chance! The cavern itself is just AMAZING, there is so much to see and take in. The walk does have some steps, but wasn't too slippery and as someone who is unfit I had no issues at all sometimes tours can move too fast but this one was perfect!. Our tour guide was great and was able to explain the different areas to us, and the use of lighting was also brilliant. Aside from the cavern itself, parking is reasonably priced and the car park is decently sized so we had no issues finding a space. Cafe is also lovely with quick service on our toasties!!
Our guide Robin really made this an excellent experience, as he shared an interesting range of history and facts, such as the formations ages, how they're made, how explorers and other humans have impacted what is seen today, and more. We prebooked the tour but not sure it's typically needed. Inside the cave is a nice pathway - it is wet in places and there are stairs, but it was much easier to walk and navigate than other caves/caverns we have visited. The tour is 45 minutes and goes 320 meters into the cavern. On site there is also a nice cafe, gift shop, and clean toilets, and ample parking.
Had a brilliant tour guide was it George? Which made the experience all the better. Lots of wow moments and learning opportunities, well preserved with a nice gift shop and cafe. Big car park too and nice walk up to Solomon's Temple after. Definitely recommend!
Lovely gift shop, tea room was busy so didn't stop. Our tour was informative and interesting, and we could visit several times and learn something different from each of the guides you could listen in on your way back through!. The caves are full of history, history in the making as they're trying to dig to a new cavern, as well as the science and the unknown glowing substance - its all pretty interesting! We visited during a very dry spell, so everything was sparkling too - it would be a great place to go on a hot day, the temperature drop to 9'c as we walked in was quite striking. Also very accessible for me carrying a 7 month old baby in the front carrier - it's paved all the way with some steps but wasn't slippery : I'd say it was probably a little expensive for the amount of time we were there, although it was enjoyable. There's a woodland to explore after too - or Go Ape for kids over aged 10 & adults who aren't afraid of heights! Parking: car park was £3 for 4 hours or £4 all day, and accepted card payment.
