We have been twice since October half term. Granted the accommodation isn't the best. Sometimes needs a freshen up by yourself. Both places we have stayed the room hasnt been to bad. We did club and standard. Standard is cheap and the electric was too. Very basic. However for the price you cannot expect anything too grand. Apart from that the entertainment and kids activities they put on is good we enjoyed it and so does my son. When you go on holiday no one talks about the accommodation do they just the experiences. Great location beach literally on your doorstep Blackpool and Liverpool an hour away. Lots to do. The staff are friendly. I'd rather pay a smaller price and have more spending money. I hope they do the place up I'd be happy to pay more if they do and its a good park if looked after. All 3/4 stars for me. Wed go again no problem.
On arrival, poor quality of cleaning in the chalets this includes, floor, cupboards and draws. No mop, bucket or broom for you to rectify yourself. Self catering items missing that should be there for up to 6 people. However, you can get a mop, bucket and broom from reception, but I'm not understanding the theory behind this. Why not have it there in place already? I would have given it a quick sweep out prior to departure if I felt it was justified. The place is looking tired and run down. A lick of paint on external areas would help this. Is this due to low budget constraints from the upper management, possibly. Or, is it down to the work and lack of regular on site checks by the on site management, possibly. Either way, it was disappointing and a word to describe it was...... Scruffy! It is cheap however, but weighing things up, it's not actually that cheap for a 4 night stay. Would I visit again..... It's fairly unlikely. The only draw is that Southport itself really surprised me and I really liked it.
Restaurant? I wouldn’t really call turkey dinosaurs with watered down gravy restaurant food. Also, rummaging through forks to find a clean one doesn’t really scream 5 on a Food Hygiene Rating. Fish fingers tasted like washing up liquid which isn’t really ideal. The tongs to pick up the puddings with, were covered with frosting so couldn’t use them to pick up the food. The staff were short when we mentioned this. Also, seeing the staff handle the salad with unwashed hands alone was off-putting enough. Awful customer service, hygiene and taste. I’d completely recommend the Snack Shack which is outside the main building. Also the fish and chip shop near the restaurant. So there are more options which are actually delicious. Actually edible.
The place itself is really rundown. Could do with a lick of paint, windows washing, upgrade on some furniture, half the amusements don't work. But, the entertainment is great! Enjoyed every night. The beach is 5 minutes walk away and is lovely! We had a classic apartment where you had to pay extra for the electricity. We put £10 in on Friday and it lasted us until we left Monday. I would come back here again for a cheap holiday just for the entertainment.
It is a nice holiday, shame the rooms were not clean , and I do not recommend going if you suffer from migraines, headaches, epilepsy etc...as they do have flashing lights and they do not turn them down as they told us that it is not a strobe light, they do not warn you either before they set the lights going. as I suffer from epilepsy myself I found it that staff should learn and understand epilepsy a bit more as there will be people worse than me. I was not able to enjoy it to the fullest but the rest of my family enjoyed them self's.
Went Monday to Friday with three small children plus two adults. Absolutely loved it. The children loved the Croc Crew and all the activities, the blue coats are amazing as are all three staff. Loved every minute of it. No complaints at all.Rooms: 5/5
Run down & dirty! Half the arcade machines don't work, the only activity available on site were the go karts and even then the staff couldn't move the seats for shorter legs so only good for taller kids, everything else was closed including the pool with no prior warning before your stay. Wouldn't recommend to anyone, stay well away. There was nothing in the town centre, most shops were empty or closed. We paid the extra £39.50 to upgrade to the 'club' rooms as the rooms we were originally put in were dirty and the smell was awful, the entrance to one room was impossible to get to as a lake had formed outside the door.. the club rooms were no better, the radiator & kettle didn't work and the toaster blew the electrics if you tried to use it.
We were sign posted to book in at 3pm. After queuing for 45 minutes. We were told that there was a £20 charge for booking in before 4pm . This information is not advertised anywhere in the park. Accommodation was very basic. All of the doors in the chalet had damage to them, only three power points in the main room and none in the bedrooms, when the windows were opened they were difficult to close because of damaged fixings.
I read some very unkind reviews about this place...turns out they were actually incredibly kind! If you want to experience how it must have been to be a POW in 'Nam or you think you should taste life as a Syrian refugee...this is the place for you!! Only, don't expect home comforts life WiFi or any kind of network coverage!! I went to the reception desk to say my TV wasn't working and that there was no remote, the reply from the receptionist will live with me forever, "yes, of course there's no remote!"
I like to leave fair reviews hence why I have added photos so people can make up their own mine on whether it would meet their standards. I wasn't expecting 5* for £160 for a weekend but I was expecting basic and clean. A group of family were going and so I decided to tag on. I rang initially to check that I could take 1 small dog and was told no problem. Arrived Friday evening, had my little frenchie in the car, straight through security no problem. Room was dated and dirty, I had to go and buy some cleaning products and clean the place down. Floor was filthy, cups in the cupboard all stained, utensils all stained and the toilet was leaking. Mould on the curtains and the ceiling stained looks like water damage The window didn't fit properly so there was a draft. I disinfected the sofa bed and took my own covers. They did provide them in the room I was in but they don't have pillow protectors or duvet protectors so I personally wouldn't want to use them. Once cleaned it was okay just to sleep in. It is very poor accommodation in a poor state of repair but I was prepared for that before I went. Club house is fine, usual type of low quality performances that you would expect and of course over inflated drink prices but all holiday parks are the same in that respect. Amusements fine for the kiddies and it was a good atmosphere and people enjoyed themselves. On Saturday morning the toilet had leaked so badly that the floor was a couple of cm in water so I decided to go and ask reception If they could get it sorted out. Saturday afternoon I asked for a mop and bucket the place was saturated and it had been hours since I went to reception. Someone drop me off a mop then about 5 minutes later a woman I most certainly cannot say she was a lady knocked on the door and when I opened it 2 off these women stood together started shouting the dogs got to go, the dogs got to go! I thought it was some kind of prank because they were so aggressive and unfriendly. I asked why and was told because dogs aren't allowed there. I explained I had enquired and was met with 'we will check the voice recordings' of which I asked them to please do. It didn't make any difference one of these women in particular was absolutely vile literally shouting and balling at me that it's a children's park and I needed to get a vet to take my dog I was told the place would need treating, I asked what she meant and she said someone may have allergies which was ironic given ide had to bleach and disinfect the place to make it habitable! Not sure how you 'treat' a room because a very clean small dog has been in it maybe she was meaning that someone may actually need to clean it I was told I had an hour to get my dog off the site or they would have security remove my dog that would have been a fun attempt for them My husband decided to take the dog home and I stayed on with my son as he wanted to stay with family. Waited all evening for the rough, aggressive woman to come back after listening to the voice recordings which of course she never returned!! Son woke up unwell with vomiting it happens doesn't it but the state of the hygiene in the food places and amusements makes you wonder I will be putting in a complaint and of course next time it will be Billy butlins or haven because this dump makes them look like Buckingham Palace. Some of the other staff were great and really helpful so not all of them think they are Mike Tyson but I think they may deal with a fair bit of abuse as i saw loads of chavs carrying on left right and centre. What was good is that the kids seemed to have a nice time which was the main thing although my son would disagree that today after vomiting 6 times on the way home!
