Lovely Heritage site. Little Shop and museum, boat trips £3 all day car parking, main car park is short walking distance to aqueduct where you can walk alongside the canal but be mindful is it narrow pathway and can become tight when many people are visiting. Wouldn't recommend the walk across bridge if you heights is a fear. However there is some great views going across
Decided to visit here as I was in the area. Absolutely loved the views. It's £3 to park but that covers you for all day. Lots of steps and climbs, but you are rewarded with some stunning scenery. Would definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area
First visit to the aqueduct with my family, lovely to walk along the canal side and take in the stunning views. It really is quite breath taking when you stand next to the aqueduct at ground level, considering it's the tallest in the UK and took ten years to build. Quite a remarkable feat of engineering given the period it was constructed and the time it has been standing. We took the narrow boat tour, the guide gave a lively, informative and engaging commentary during the 45 minute trip. The location houses an on site gift shop, pub near by serving food and drinks, visitor centre, picnic areas, plus a tearoom located further along the bank. Plus several footpaths, ideal to explore the area further. One of which lead to Llangollen definitely one to explore during our next visit.
It is a masterpiece of engineering genius! Amazing experience walking on the aqueduct with the kids. Stunning view - the river, the trees, beautiful. It's high and long and a lovely break from the bit before and Trefor basin where there was a very grumpy shop man in a boat. The aqueduct itself is interesting and the swallows around it fascinating. Not ideal of you're scared of heights though! Little que to get on but mostly well managed by boat driver should add that we didn't do this on foot but via canal boat
An absolutely stunning place but not for the ones afraid of heights. It is a great architectural marvel and magnificent sight. There are a few trails which you can explore or rent a boat and cross the aqueduct as per its purpose. There's free street parking just opposite the entrance of it's not busy, would recommend going late in the evening in summer so far there aren't as many people around. The view is amazing with two other bridges you can spot on their side of the aqueduct. You have to walk under the canal bridge to get round to the bridge to cross the canal inside the Anglo Welsh boat rental place. It's well worth a look but for those who fear heights just beware as it's pretty tight and the gaps in the bars aren't good for children as they could definitely fall!
Some nice areas to walk around the aqueduct and of course you can walk across it too. Paths were clearly marked and theres sign posts guiding you. Great views all around from upon the aqueduct and you can find some nice views from below too. Great short walk!
Very nice and unusual place. The tiny boats are crossing a deep valley on the bridge which is a actually a canal. A 1/2 mile walk links 2 zones of pubs and car park. Along the canal, some barges are a nice pub-bar, another one a is a flea market, and some other one are static or long-time mooring houses. Closes at 4pm, Toilets available on the disable car-park and at Telford In on the other side of the canal.
The staff on the canal boat to over the aqueduct were fantastic.it cost £10 each Although if you are in a wheelchair you will need to be able to stand and manage about 5 steps in to the boat. However you can walk across for free but it might be a bit scary in a wheelchair. There are some nice walks around and tea rooms etc.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
