Fabulous traditional fish and chip shop right by the quayside on the River Dee at Kirkcudbright. Some of the nicest chips we've had for ages, and fresh full scampi. Indoor seating option, but much nicer to sit in the fresh air outdoors if the weather allows. For some reason, there's a TARDIS sitting on the green nearby...
A really good place to come and get tasty fish and chips or just about anything else! The toilets are clean the service is fast and the portions are generous with a great harbour side location. It can get busy though.
This was the worst fish and chips I've ever had . The batter was very thin , the fish was small , I asked for scrap s and never got any .The chips were like rubber and dry. Over priced such a disappointment.
Easily one of my favorite evenings spent in Scotland! Ate some delicious fish and chips while folks were celebrating with bagpipes and dance! It was a lot of food for one, but made sure to eat it all because I didn't want it to go to waste. Massive line, but it went pretty quick. Would stop by again if I ever make it back to town!
Fantastic chippy! They have a very nice selection and everything was delicious. The surrounding area is also very scenic. 5/5!
What a Fantastic place. Whilst staying in the village, we had to indulge in a takeaway and had the wonderful highly recommended fish and chips. So pleased we did. Portion size fabulous large two of us shared, with tub of mushy peas. Never ever have we had Fish so white, lightly battered, and chips that were so good, no grease, lovely and dry, with a crispness to be devoured. This takes some beating! Highly recommend if your in Kirkcudbright, or surrounding villages. My photo below is only half a portion as sharedvwith my husband.
Consistently excellent fish and chips, our holidaya wouldn't be complete without a visit to Polar Bites.
Not as good as previous reviewers have claimed. Over £15 for barely average portions of pale chips and unrecognisable fish, which tasted okay. Not as bad as you get served on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, but nowhere near as good as in the Welsh Borders. Covid precautions are to be commended, and service was friendly.
Not the cheapest fish and chips and not the best we've had but overall very good. Fish was lovely with a thin and crispy batter. Would go again.
Polarbites is situated on harbour square we haven't tried the fish and chips yet but if they compare to the quality of the ice cream then they will be outstanding this is a very popular place in a lovely fishing village there is plenty of car parking opposite
