We had Sunday lunch at the Plough Inn today 5th September. What a feast! I had soup for starter and my husband had garlic mushrooms. Both came served piping hot with a warm bread roll and butter. Delicious. We both chose lamb for our main course. Very generous portions, cooked to perfection with vegetables served separately. We were so full, we thought we would have to pass on dessert, but we waited a while and asked for the dessert menu. I had toffee pudding, my husband had blackcurrant cheese cake. This was the best Sunday lunch we have eaten out for a long time. The service was good, and friendly. The staff were obseving cleanliness and wearing masks. The bill was a lot smaller than expected after such a feast. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Recently refurbished, not open Mon to Wed and can be quiet except Saturdays when there is disco or band on. Has darts and pool and one real ale.
I was visting HMP Haverigg, and had to stay for night near by. Price was around 50£ per night. My room was very small, but very nice, and clean. Breakfast was ok, thanks, and sorry that I stole the room key. Upadate: second time, was no towels in my room...
My wife, Marion and I stayed at The Plough Inn for 3 nights. The staff especially Bev and Mike who run the place are absolutely lovely people and will help you and give you advice about places to visit etc, we had a full English breakfast each morning whichever basically set us up for the day. We had our evening meal on our 2nd night at the The Plough, couldn't fault it. Ideally situated for visits to West coast, lake district, Barrow in Furness or just for one night or more break. Will definitely come back and recommend to anyone
Nice dining area, food decent. As a real ale drinker, was disappointed with the draught beer on offer... only one, & not the best.
Decided to try the food as we live locally. We were not disappointed, the food was delicious and very generous portions. Will definitely be going again
