I stayed in one of the beautiful apartments, 3/3/23 for 3 nights. The apartment was modern, clean, and has the most beautiful views. Whilst we were there, we visited Plattens Fish and Chips and ate in the restaurant. I had a vegetarian battered sausage and chips and my husband had cod and chips. The food was delicious and of a good quality. The service we received was also excellent. I have seen comments about the prices of fish and chips on a couple of reviews but I personally felt our meal was good value for money. I have visited many cafes, garden centres, restaurants etc for lunches which have been priced the same, prices have unfortunately increased everywhere due to the current cost of living. The food was very enjoyable and I will definitely return : Vegetarian options: I ordered vegetarian battered sausage : Kid-friendliness: My 3 year old got a bucket and spade with activities to entertain him
Poor service and mediocre food at London prices. Take your custom elsewhere when there are so many other options about. The friendly waiting staff knew we’d been on a long hike having asked. Once seated upstairs, although the restaurant was pretty empty, we waited half an hour for anyone to take our order, despite countless staff members walking past and clearing plates. Eventually got up and went downstairs to ask if we could order. Our table was not clean and had battered fish crumbs all over it. Additionally the art/sculpture next to us had cobwebs and a dead spider inside, and needed a clean. Fish and chips £14 was poor value. Chips were good, not too soggy. Fish was on the small side and lacked flavour. Mushy peas were bad - tasted of water with some pepper. Overall would not recommend
Golden batter. Fresh fish. We had the cod as they had sold out of the haddock. The food was nice. We've had better. Service a little slow. It's a bit pricey. Tea was £3.10 a cup!Food: 4/5
Went for a day out at the beach with my partner and 14 month old daughter. My daughter has a few allergies, one of which is quite tricky. I phoned beforehand and spoke to a lady on the phone who was very lovely and accommodating and my daughter managed to safely have her first fish and chips. Can’t thank them enough for going out of their way to make it possible and the service was amazing, will definitely come back again.
We really fancied fish & chips whilst in wells today whilst out walking with our dog. I thought it would be chips on the key, “brave the cold!” But I was pleasantly surprised to see Plattens restaurant that also allows dogs, so went in and gave it a go. They need to sort the tables out to accommodate people better and they in return will get more foot fall through the door, but other than that it was lovely. Great food served by nice staff. Will go again for sure
Came here a few weeks ago. Haven't been since its waiter service. Got escorted to a table. Sat down and had a look at the menu. Such a shock to see that fish and chips was around £14/15. We left immediately. A rip off especially in todays economic hardships.Rooms: 2/5
I have to say it was very disappointing, we ate inside, normally take out the food was cold and the Steak pie only had 1 bit of meat should of had chips and gravy, half the price one nice lad working hard, trying his best, to serve the tables while the manager and other colleagues just stood around not a care in the world, the manager did very well at Ignoring me 3 times, very Obvious we were unimportant to her. I really feel for the lad serving. 10 out of 10 for him, 0 for the rest. Will probably never return.
Visited takeaway Friday evening. Worst chippy I have ever been to. Only 4 customers waiting but took them 35 minutes to dish up 1 fish and chips and 1 fishcake and chips. They said it would take another 10 minutes to prepare the curry sauce I ordered when I came in! So I had the curry sauce charge refunded. Fish batter was greasy. Chips were stale. Nothing very warm. All presumably because it took so long. I understand a new till system was a problem but no real excuse. Not so much as an apology. Thanks to the kind customer who flagged to them that she was getting her order out of sequence before me. Should have gone next door.
Shadow of its former self, could not get sit down service because they had some form of event going on upstairs. Food was great but having sent ££££ on the fish they made us pay £1.50 for a sachet of tomato ketchup and a sachet of mayo.Food: 5/5
A really great fish and chips in a lovely clean building right on the harbour. The staff were so helpful and it is dog friendly as well. We will be going back. One staff member in particular was absolutely superb at making us feel most welcome. Good and clean toilets upstairs.Food: 5/5
