In a word....fabulous! I had just landed in Manchester and was advised I needed to experience fish and chips. My train dropped me at Gatly and the chic look of the restaurant caught my eye. The service Stuart and Nicola was super friendly when I entered and they got me set up with my order of fish and chips and peas! I love that it is served with a veggie....not so in the USA. The fish was lightly battered and perfect. I loved it was one large peice.....this made for less batter and more fish! The tartar sauce is delightfully zingy. I was also treated by chef Hugo to the fried squid and a dessert plate. OMG! The squid melts in your mouth! I have never had it served so tender and tasty. And when I thought my taste buds couldn't be happier I took a bite of a most delicate chocolate. The entire experience was a beautiful welcome to this country and I am lookinh forward to exploring more! Thank you Platform 5, Staurt, Nicola and Chef Hugo for making my first meal in England such a delight! Parking: There is ample parking....just make sure you know your license plate number when you enter the restaurant. They have you register it to keep the parking lot for customers only.
Great pub this. We only called in for an hour and stayed all night. Nice to see really good entertainment on. The Committee band really worked hard and played all the dance floor hits. The girl singer was amazing and they seemed to be on all night. Let us know when next they are on and we’ll be there. The staff were very polite and really got into the music. Great vibe. Keep it up Platform 5. Peter
Awful drinks and awful atmosphere. They only served a handful of weak and peculiar tasting cocktails of shades of brown along with a selection of unbranded beer. Would not recommend for anyone unless you're too drunk to remember it.
Solid, bland pub food that hits the spot when that's what you feel like. United match was being shown so I should have given the atmosphere 1 star but I'm sure the place is grand when the commoners aren't out in force Food: 3/5
BEWARE! The car park here is managed by Smart Parking Ltd. If you fall foul of their rules and regulations the charge might cost you much more than your night out!!
O sent my meal back refund given my sons meal didnt come with ours had to wait .no one asked us how our meal was .pizza nice for 2nd son .its not where i would recomend teally
Lovely evening on Tuesday meetings friends for a drink and catch up. Pleasant place nice decoration and comfy seating.
The food here is very well cooked and prepared, and it is quite fast to get to your table, atmosphere is good but if you don't like loud music then I would advise sitting on the road side of the bar/restaurant, but all together a nice placeFood: 5/5
Not as good value for money as it used to be. Was a first option as a family meal out when the offers and variety of options made P5 a worthwhile visit. As prices have risen those two enticements have decreased. Kid-friendliness: Far too "kid friendly". A place where staff don't feel comfortable asking parents to control their little ones behaviour or noise level. Not directly a criticism of P5 but definitely a reason to think twice before returning.
The staff were lovely, let me say that first off. Sadly, the pub itself is huge and wasn't particularly warm, as it was pretty much empty when we visited. Mum had a small selection of gluten free choices, mainly the usually suspects plus things that could have gluten free bread as a substitute. We both chose a toasted sandwich, chicken, Lancashire cheese and avocado. Obviously one on regular bread and the other gluten free... they were both awful, unfortunately. The accompanying leaves were brown and wilted. It could have been argued that they might be wilted due to their proximity to a hot toasties, however the toasties were anything but hot and even the cheese was decidedly not melting at all! The bread was faintly coloured and mum's was rock hard. The fries were crispy, but looked anaemic... an extra fw minutes and they could have been really good... and at least they were hot! All in all a sad experience. We might venture back for a drink one day, but will not be eating there again. Parking: Remember to put your registration number in when you enter the pub.
