Plas Mawr is a hidden gem for a truly unique wedding. This stunning medieval house in Conwy has only hosted a handful of weddings in the last 20 years, so photographing one here was an absolute privilege. Bonus points for the incredible opportunity to run around Conwy Castle afterwards for photos
Absolutely amazing place built by a merchant in Tudor times, still completely as it was built. All floors open right up to the attic bedrooms. Climb the ladder to the tower with amazing views towards Conway castle. Beautiful garden to walk around. Look for the witches marks on the oak beams. You can spend 3 to 4 hours here.
This is an iconic Elizabethan townhouse and is considered one of the best-preserved Elizabethan buildings in Britain. The house was built between 1576 and 1585 by Robert Wynn, a wealthy merchant and prominent local figure. The house is renowned for its exceptional Renaissance-style decorations and intricate plaster ceilings. Its interior showcases furniture and artifacts that recreate daily life during the Elizabethan era. Particularly, the family crests and symbols engraved on the walls and ceilings reflect the social status of the time. Having undergone several restorations and conservation efforts, the building is now managed by Cadw, the Welsh heritage agency, ensuring its preservation for future generations.
Always worth an hour visit, especially if you already have Cadw membership. It gives a genuine glimpse into Tudor Wales and how people lived. It's fun to climb the tower and look at the medicinal garden. The guides are great as well.
Nice history lesson! Only takes an hour or so to see it all but combine it with a trip to the castle, town walls and marine walk for a full day out. Definitely worth checking out.
