10/2/24 Torquay United 3-4 Slough Town in the Vanarama National League South. Adult entry £20 if bought in advance £22 on the day!, Programme £3, Pin Badge £4. This was my first ever visit to Torquay. Parking was easy as there is no dedicated car parks, so it’s just a matter of finding a spot on one of the streets that surround the ground. The stewards were very friendly and welcoming, have no complaints. As an away fan we were in Block A of the main stand. I would have liked to have stood on the terrace behind one of the goals. So the main stand is all seated and covered. Behind the goal to my right is a covered terrace and at the opposite end is the family stand which is all seated. The stand opposite us was one long terrace. I’ve taken a star off as the away section was pretty basic. The toilets were okay, there was hot food and drinks available, but no alcoholic drinks which upset some of our supporters. Another reason for docking a star is because of the ticket prices. Absolutely shocking for tier 6 of English football. Even a concession ticket was £18 in advance, £20 on the day. Daylight robbery. With a crowd under 1800, it clearly shows people are staying away as I thought Torquay got more than that at home. The supporters weren’t happy as results have been poor. All the supporters I spoke to were as good as gold. There was a demo outside the ground after the game which I walked past to get to the Club bar. It is a nice ground, I did enjoy my visit, and would recommend going to anyone who hasn’t been. I might wait and see if the owner and manager get ousted first and they might then do something about their ridiculous admission prices.
Torquay born and bred love my yellow Army. Great family day out. Staff all great, boots and laces nice for a drink
Great friendly atmosphere. Went for a day out as argyle were away that day. Stood in popside and realised what a great club this is. Fans sang loud and proud. Going back for more in two weeks! Very welcoming.
Babacombe is a lovely place to visit, highly recommend the Babacombe Inn for a spot of lunch and pint before a game. Glovers didn't get the result expected and out of the FA Trophy, good luck Torquay, we may or may not have to visit Plainmoor depending on who gets promoted with the Green Army.
A nice traditional ground with a great away end. The stewards were over officious but didn't spoil the day. No parking!
