Everyone enjoyed their food, service slightly slower than we would like, although staff were really polite. I was impressed that we were automatically given 2 free desserts as the ones we wanted weren't available. The layout felt quite cramped compared to other Pizza Expresses we have been in, and we didn't feel we could have a private conversation. We were very much aware of the family's activities on the table right next to us, but overall a nice lunchtime experience, and it is clearly a popular place.
We had booked online at 9am and received a confirmation email. When we arrived we were told rather rudely that online bookings had been stopped at 10am so our booking would not have counted. The host the only woman not wearing uniform told us she may be able to get us a table, I felt as though we were an inconvenience at best. They managed to get us a table and were told cutlery and glasses would be with us soon. We waited over 20 minutes maybe longer to even be asked what drinks we would like. The cutlery arrived with our drinks, throughout the host was rude and made us feel unwanted. When finally out food did arrive it wasn't full cooked, my pasta was hard and the pizzas not even solid enough for you to hold a slice of. Only positive was our waitress, she smiled throughout even when she could tell it wasn't the best service for us. She remained professional and kind at all times :
Waited for around 15/20 minutes for any order to be taken, ordered some starters and olives as well as mains, olives arrived quickly but after 40 minutes of nothing else arriving even the jug of water we asked for the assumed manager asked if everything was okay, turned out our order had not been received by the kitchen. Was then told, after 40 minutes of waiting, that they couldn't make the vegan pizza I ordered as they didn't have any vegan cheese after already being told they didn't have my first choice. I ordered the same without cheese, and they arrived shortly after the starters before they had been cleared away. My pizza was under cooked and very floppy, had to be returned to cook more. When it arrived it lacked toppings and looked quite sad. Overall the manager was very attentive and apologetic, seemed like the other waiting staff were embarrassed and afraid to deal with the problems/didn't care., the waitress that took our order was very nice but never returned to check on us. I had a very disappointing meal, however the other diners enjoyed theirs. In 1 hour I had to change my order three times. We were kindly spared from the bill, however probably would not return, definitely not without money off vouchers as there is no way i would have paid £11 for the sad excuse of a pizza I received.
Food & Service was Great, We only paid for our drinks as we paid for our food using Tesco vouchers!
Very poor service from Start to finish, had run out of a lot of drinks and starters ! Then gave children’s starters to a different table so had to Wait for longer for them, we then had an hours wait for mains to come . One of the pizzas wasn’t cooked properly amd one pizza had been forgotten and some missing side orders . One of the female waiters was very rude. Will not be going back . Such a shame as we have really enjoyed it there in the past.
Awful. Dirty sticky seats and tables. Useless service, asked 3 times for jug of water when one of us even managed to get someone's attention. Had to get up and go find them. 40+ minutes delay waiting for food. Was not told of any delay when ordering. Sat with empty drinks on table, nobody noticed or asked if we wanted any more. When food finally arrived it was served on cold plates which quickly cooled the pizzas. Pizza topping needed a microscope to find, must have been 25p worth of it. Shoddy service and food. Be warned; we'll never return.
There was a booking mistake not our mistake a mistake in the pizza express system so we were placed at an uncleaned table with no glasses or cutlery. We waited longer than expected for service but food arrived fairly promptly. Pizzas were mostly satisfactory but my mother was unhappy with hers, and the only pasta on the menu I'm not a cheese fan so I ordered it was simply not cooked enough, the sauce was okay but the actual pasta was rubbery. One server was lovely, I cannot fault her, but unfortunately her counterpart was downright rude. She seemed to blame us for the booking issue as we had booked only half and hour before she shut off bookings as they were too busy. She called my 50-something year old father 'darling' and 'sweetheart' after spilling his starter then hastily placed it back on his plate. Those are just the issues that stuck out to me personally, there are others. I understand the stress of working in a busy restaurant but there are certain things I just expect from service and I did not get them
Good pizza with interesting toppings if you pay extra for the large and thin ones, else of average quality. Service somewhat slow overall, and puddings were quite small for the price. Quiet mid afternoon but gets really busy early evening. Convenient for the cinema next-door.
totally outstanding service and food. We were so well looked after from the second we walked through the door. Our waitress was speedy, attentive and very friendly. The food especially desserts were so good we stopped talking to enjoy them. I spoke to the manager later to congratulate her on the good time we'd enjoyed. I'd go back there any day!
Monday 29th Oct We arrived at pizza express looking forward to our experience only to be let down by poor service. Food was good however there was 4 of us and one of us got our food after everyone else and the portion of pasta was small and over cooked as if rushed/forgotten. One of the waitress got way too close to my face with hot plates on numerous occasions. Then we were going to order dessert but nobody came to take our order so we didn't bother just got the bill and left. Overall it was very disappointing and underwhelming.
