First visit here and asked for a large fish and was told by staff they only do one size that fits the tray, not kidding were they, very soggy fish and rubbery batter! Chips were soggy looking things as well, looked like they were part boiled then teased with being put in the fryer. Fish and chips are the basics that any chippy should be able to get right all the time, going back to Lewis's chippy over the road from now on much better and recommend others do as well.
You make sure to have fish and chips here its amazing fresh and it feels like home. Its a friendly and family place.
Really nice fish and chips, the staff were very efficient and polite. Good all round place.
Pretty mediocre compared to across the road. ———————————— Since leaving this review the owner has decided to reply, I do hope potential customers read the reply and go on to read other replies left for negative reviews. Reviews and feedback are a great tool to learn from, if I was the owner I would maybe try harder to be less ‘mediocre’....not in this case. In this case the owner has been rude...... a mediocre level of rude at that. They are only letting themselves and their business down.
Doing a tour of takeaways this year, instead of touring the continent. This was a very good experience, but not quite exceptional. Very pleasant and friendly staff and great to get haddock as well as cod. We eat haddock by preference and in the past in England it has been difficult to find. Moderate portion of tasty fish for the price, with slightly soggy batter, which again may be a regional preference. Generous portion of tasty chips included. A slightly bigger portion of fish would have tipped it into 5 stars.
A traditional fish and chip shop with great value meals. However, I have been twice and am still to try the fishcake. Being British I don't complain and ate what I was given. Last time I had the sausage and this time the chicken nuggets. Both were very good but still no fish cake. Highly recommended but let me know what the fishcakes taste like please.
We had a really good fish and chip lunch here today. Excellent service, spotlessly clean, great food. The staff here should be commended for their work. After tables were cleared they disinfected both tables and every chair. Clean table cloths put in place before more customers were allowed to sit. Covid19 precautions were second to none. Good value and friendly.
I honestly think this was the best fish and chips I've ever had! My partner and I like to try different fish and chips at every place we go and this has by far been my favourite. The place was very calm compared to others and I loved that dogs were allowed in. The fish was flakey and perfectly crispy, the chips were also excellent. Finally I got the curry sauce which was worth a try!! I can't wait to come back.
Update - the owner's reply to my review says all you need to know about this business! Have now removed one star. Visited last weekend with my young family. The restaurant itself is clean and smartly decorated and looks modern. The staff were friendly and the service was good, although they were quiet at the time. I would agree that the food was quite expensive for fish and chips. We normally visit the restaurant opposite, which was closed, and the food at Pinnacles was more expensive and seemed to be a smaller portion size too. Most dishes were £8, even cheaper meals like pie or sausage. The kids meals were £5 which also seemed expensive. Overall it was okay but not somewhere that would be first choice. NB I would also suggest you read the owner's response to negative reviews. Insulting, abusive and libellous replies let the restaurant and its staff down. Try being constructive, the best businesses value feedback and learn from it.
The fish and chips are good. You get them without skin on the there is a choice if cod, haddock or plaice. Very obligingly they baked my mum's haddock rather than fried it. Mushy peas were great. We had the lite bite and whilst it was good it was on the expensive side and the tables were a bit basic. Service was friendly and fast.
