I attended a&e with my 11 year old daughter. The woman at reception was so lovely and understanding and made sure my daughter was seen right away as she was struggling to breathe. From then on every staff member treated us both with such respect and care. You can tell that the staff work as a team and all supported each other in ensuring we had the best care. We were informed of everything every step of the way. We ended up having to stay for 5 days and you truly made us feel as comfortable as possible whilst caring for my daughter. Thank you!
The A&E triage is really good. Stayed on ward 40 short stay ward on a weekend which is covered by bank staff. My blood pressure was taken on my lower arm when they could have taken it with a bigger blood pressure band had they of been bothered changing it multiply times. The bed numbers was mixed up so one day I was offered no food or drink because they thought I was having surgery. This ward have students so the care varies they walk around asking you if you are going home .I was left with an IV all night because of skeleton staff on night. The staff through the week did not like I had been there 5 days so they was all talking my information around the desk in loud voices as it was a short stay ward and why is she still here and discussing my blood works. The doctors I saw was very good and treated me correctly and compassionately.
My mother who has terminal cancer was sent to A&E by the “emergency oncology unit” as her sodium was low we were put in the plaster room, the plaster room that’s used for putting pots on. had to ask for the drip to be put up repeatedly which was the reason we were sent here, not seen hardly anyone, apparently the blood results were available over 5 hours ago but only a doctor can tell us ! What a joke she was 6 hours post chemo when we arrived and she is immuno suppressed and they stick her in A&E absolutely shocking the lack of duty of care Been here now 11 hours and counting- disgusting!! It’s worse than prison no food provided and only one drink provided for her. Worked all her life paid all her national insurance and treated worse than an animal at the vets.
Problem when you first get here is parking, that is a massive issue on its own, i cant really speak about the hospital itself as i was already pissed off driving round and round. I totally underdstand why folk were parking absolutely anywhere. Not enough parking to compensate with the size of the hospital
Spotless and all the staff i came into contact with were down to Earth and lovely. Hospital a bit like an airport but security guard was helpful with directions. Probably the best hospital i have been to in terms of staff approachability and general cleanliness.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the staff at Pinderfields Hospital, particularly those in the DDH Emergency Department, Ward G28C, Plastic Surgery. A special thank you goes to Dr. Mather David, Dr. Jivan Sharmila, and Ehab Badran for their exceptional support and care during my emergency. Yesterday, I underwent surgery due to tendon damage and a minor bone injury on my left finger. The team performed an exploration under anesthesia on the lacerations of my left ring and little fingers, as well as a Zone 1 FDP repair on my left ring finger. The surgery was successful, and while my fingers have been saved, a lengthy recovery lies ahead. Overall, I found the hospital to be impeccably clean, and every member of staff I encountered was approachable and compassionate. This is likely the best hospital I have visited, both in terms of the professionalism of the staff and the general standard of cleanliness.
It was chaotic in A&E. My wife came in with a head injury and knee issue to false knee after falling down the stairs. Treated 16 hours later. Staff did not seem interested or motivated. No rush, not getting back when asking for pain relief. The receptionist in the a&e nurse section was just rude and had no interpersonal skills whatsoever. Not just this he but to others. No direction from anyone senior. Poor and unprofessional and I would say verging on neglect of duty. I appreciate everyone is busy, but most emergency services are . But others don’t moan and strike and just get on with it. Considering it was chaotic , there was no rush from staff, no one appeared stressed or bothered. I don’t really think throwing money at it is the answer.
Acute Admissions Unit Absolutely diabolically unsafe, people layed on beds in the corridors vomiting, coughing and splurting. Staff overun. Patients health is at serious risk on this ward. It took 4 days for a Haematology registrar to show up on the ward to deal with my ongoing issues. Majority of nurses and staff are rude and obnoxious. Shocking place, awful atmosphere poor care. Health care assistants are the only bright light on this ward offering a great service mostly with smiles. Maybe the consultants, registrars and nurses should follow suit. Eventually got discharged while still experiencing chest pain, tachycardia, breathlessness and all they did was stick the oxygen monitor on my finger and noticed the pulse while at rest was 115bpm then said oh ur anxious and then sent me home
Staff, doctors and nurses were very helpful even with the long waiting time and patients that needed to be seen which is a huge strain on staff and the NHS. The only issue was the seats in A & E were so uncomfortable that I came home aching more than what I went in for like I had been on a hike. The smoking at the main entrance by patients and others is still disgusting and can be smelt before you go out the entrance then you have jump around avoiding the floating patients smoking with not a care in the world thinking of their own needs.
Unfortunately this is the closest hospital to me and in case of emergency which thankfully was only twice in 5 years but I think if I'm bleeding to death Id be better off at home then here. Awful awful experience. Adviced by GP and 111 to go to A&E asap to then be told by doctor that yes at my age this is a serious problem but next time I can wait. Oh he whispered that when clearly saw my partner's hearing aids, multiple times been asked to speak up to clearly he refused or maybe he needed some hearing aids? Oh nurses... What a delight, laught sitting round and throwing attitude. No information not even bother to type on the name on computer to see anything just throwing faces at eachother and telling me to keep eye on screen in waiting area which makes absolutely no sense and it's not in any order!!
