Last minute visit for some food and was not disappointed! The smashburger is outstanding. Kids loved the Mac n cheese and all of the deserts went down well. Alfie the resident pub dog was quite the gentleman and the staff were lovely! Definitely recommend visiting
So pleased we stumbled upon this place! New owners only been open a few days & already there is a warm, friendly atmosphere. Food was so tasty! Would absolutely highly recommend.
Well considering the new owners have only just taken over the meal was excellent
Food came with peas instead of salad. I don't like peas and they never mentioned this when ordering, probably because the young bar maid needs more customer service experience. Very reluctant to speak to you and miserable
We visited a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed the traditional pub food. We both had lasagne with peas and some garlic bread. Overall it was nice food, just your typical pub grub but that's never a bad thing. I had a shandy which was nice and the service was very good. If you're nearby I'd recommend popping in for a pint or a bite to eat.
Very disappointed, called in for Sunday lunch, only beef dinner available, ordered 3 x lunches, food looked and tasted lovely, but plates cold so meal went cold quickly, mentioned this when leaving, also tables on top of each other, people had to stand up to let us out. Very disappointed
Great food and a good selection of beers and wine. Sunday lunch was excellent. Great friendly atmosphere.
Great family pub, with a good atmosphere and really good home cooked food. I was impressed with the homemade chips.
Great play area for the little ones and the beer and snack food chips, garlic bread and onion rings were decent too.
Grim! Five of us called in for a drink and a bite to eat as we were passing. We were told they were only doing the lunch menu and had no salad as it had been missed off their order that morning. They only had 2 members of staff working so could not go out to buy any more. This was fine, it was 3pm and we were all hungry so decided to stay. We ordered drinks and sat down in the bar area but should have taken this as our cue to leave. It was dingy and smelly but we gave them the benefit of the doubt as it seemed a rustic country pub, not a 5 star restaurant. We ordered 2 x prawn mayo sandwiches with coleslaw and salad. They said they could replace the salad with chips which we accepted. We also ordered 2 x scampi and chips in a basket and 1 x chicken strips and chips in a basket. The scampi came first and it was so dark it looked like it had been set on fire. My partner expected it to fly off the plate the moment he put his fork into it but it didn't, in fact it was soaking wet and gooey. The chips were no better. In my opinion it had all been deep fried in dirty old oil, hence the dark colour. I tried a piece and it was revolting. Then the prawn sandwiches came out. Both served in between 2 ends of the crust off the loaves of bread. I asked if he could just bring out 4 slices of bread so that I could put the fillings into some nice soft bread but the man serving us apologised and said he would make them up again for us. Then the chicken strips arrived. They didn't look as bad as the scampi but the chips were still swimming in grease. While we were waiting for our replacement sandwiches the rest of the meals were picked at but most of it was inedible. After waiting 15 minutes for 4 slices of bread we wondered if the reason we were given crusts was because they had ran out of bread so I asked the kitchen to just cancel our order. I felt a bit ill after trying the scampi anyway and told them that one of the scampi dishes was completely inedible. One of them did get eaten but the person in our group that did eat it said it was bad but he was just really hungry! At that point another member of staff had just arrived and said that she would just take the bad meals off our bill. Another family came in to order food after us only to be told that the kitchen had closed and they would no longer be serving food. A couple sat at the bar prodding at their own grim-looking plates of food laughed and commented "is that a promise?". The young woman at the bar was very apologetic and didn't charge us for any of the meals in the end so we didn't leave out of pocket, just hungry and a little bit queasy from trying the soggy scampi. I don't like to leave bad reviews but this really was the worst dining experience I've ever had. I hope for the pub's sake that they were just having a bad day and that things improve but for customers, I hope you have a better experience than us.
