Very tasty French food with generous portions. All dishes have a lovely blend of flavours, and are well balanced. The desserts are quite average, so we opted to skip them the second time we visited. The service is minimal, and this is reflected in the lack of service charge. Although the price of the meal overall would be about the same for a restaurant of similar quality with service charge.
We had a nice dinner! It was Sunday evening, we walked in with no reservation. They told us that they’re fully booked tonight however there is a spot for only an hour now. It actually worked perfectly for us! Everything was very tasty and served at the perfect time. Great service!
Really nice place. It's not inexpensive. The prices are quite high, at least for my budget. Fixed price- 28.50 for two course. 34.50 for three course. And the alcohol is expensive too. But if you want to have a high-end dinner in Oxford and you have the money to spend, this is a fantastic choice. Good location- Little Clarendon Street. Lots of seating space. Ground floor, outdoors, upper floors. Very well maintained. Helpful, friendly staff. The food is delicious. The portions are good, especially for the main course. I tried a lot of the dishes and everything tasted superb.
We went for our wedding anniversary. We used to live in Paris and spoke French but none of the staff did. We were met by a stony faced female. She neither heard nor reacted to any of my requests. However when my husband asked she reacted. The rest of the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food was good. You have to book and be exactly on time or you will be given short shrift.
Heard it's one of the best French restaurant in town. We made a reservation for dinner and by the time we got there, the restaurant was fully packed. We were served with some bread and butter. They were really yummy. I ordered 2 courses meal, entree and main course both were vegetarian. The entree was roasted parsnips on pastry puff with balsamic dressing. It was nice and I had this three beans curry with couscous. The taste was just ok but the portion was big.
The service was minimalist. They did manage to seat us as walk ins at a busy time. The waiter seemed apathetic to the menu. The starters were fine, and cooked properly, but not outstanding. The same cannot be said for the main. The salmon was cremated and the potatoes were raw. The mussels were uncleaned, and the salsa Verde more closely resembled a mustard vinigarette. The saffron sauce was aptly named as it was about 10% saffron by weight, and so permeated all. The artichoke was quite hard to swallow with a lot of tough and burned edges. We appreciate it was a busy time, but for the price of the food, the quality was very much not up to scratch.
Excellent service and food was very solid. We really enjoyed the atmosphere in here and the staff was exceptional - you could tell that they enjoy their work. For them alone I'd rate this place highly. That said, a similar level of care goes into the food they serve, with creative dashes of colour and flare in everything that was brought to our table.
Went to Pierre Victoire for birthday celebration. The food was delicious and service was great. Prices are on point at about 30 quid for three course meal. Cheese souffle is the best I've had.
My son found this lovely restaurant online and told me that booking was recommended. We didn’t book, however, as it was a Monday night and we were going at opening time…we were really lucky to get a table! All they had was a small table by the door, which initially didn’t look that appealing but very glad we said yes. I can see why they say book! They have a lovely Prix Fix menu with a great selection and a very well-rounded wine list from which I picked a very nice half bottle Côtes du Rhône. We went for two courses: starter & main. My son had the Duck BonBons & the Steak-Frittes, both of which were delicious. I had the Carpaccio to start and the Monkfish with Crab Risotto…seriously yummy! Atmosphere was lively & chic, the service was attentive and knowledgable, presentation was stylish - everything you would expect from a family-run French restaurant. C'est vraiment excellent ;-
Top notch food for a very reasonable price in a rustic setting. I dined here with two family members last night and we were all very impressed. I had the scallops to start and the steak to follow - both flavoursome and cooked to perfection. Good selection of wines and a nice atmosphere. Only negative is it's verrrrry loud.
