Incredible historical venue of all sorts. Came all the way from the United States to see Halifax and The Piece Hall. Great acoustics and you could feel the bass - especially from the upper level balcony. Food was offered by local vendors and was reasonably priced and tasted good. I hope Rick makes this an annual occurrence!
Came here for a Quo concert - never been to Halifax before. Parking and diversions getting to the venue were a bit stressful but the venue itself was remarkable. Great acoustics, good sight lines - Quo filled it so atmosphere was excellent. Beverage distributors were easily accessible - didn't try the toilets. Busy getting out - be patient and watch your feet! Very unusual venue for a gig but worked really well - my wife tells me that she has been here for shopping too and that was excellent but I can't comment on that!
Looked a lovely place if you enjoy socialising and the outdoor vibe of shops and food and drink entertainment. I felt bad for the shops though as they seemed unvisited. It was a Saturday afternoon, you would expect it to be the busiest time for shopping but none were frequented by even just one human. The building is quite impressive but what was super impressive were the doors!!! Worth popping to see the piece hall if you are around.
Beautiful place that has quirky shops, welcoming bars and a great venue for live music. I was luckily enough to see Richard Ashcroft play. If your looking for something different it's definitely worth a visit.Visited onWeekend
We went to see Korn here and it was really well organized, a great atmosphere and a phenomenal experience. It was easy to go and get drinks or have loo visits and get back to our space - well thought and planned out and great surroundings.
We initially went to see Bill Bailey there. The venue was absolutely stunning, especially with the stage lighting at the night time. The staff were phenomenal, it fet more of a cosy festival then a gig. We returned the next day to explore the shops, which boasted a wide selection of wares for sale. In all Halifax felt homely and how shopping towns use to be.
Superb space and building, it's hard to imagine that such a place exists in UK, it looks like Italy. When the weather is good it's fantastic to stroll around, perusing the shops, bars, and cafes. There's not a huge number of shops but it's pretty varied and there's something that should interest kids and adults alike. There are lifts and plenty of toilets. There are many events held regularly here, the other nice thing is that there are plenty of car parks nearby, and the surrounding streets with borough market, and numerous arcades nearby make for an interesting day out. Highly recommended.
Excellent open air venue. Well organised, safe, great stage view and good sound. Wheelchair accessible and well thought out bars and snack areas.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Visually, the Piece Hall venue looks amazing, especially after dark. It's essentially a large courtyard surrounded by sandstone Georgian warehouses. Beautifully lit, it's open air, so sound quality will vary depending on conditions. AIR sounded pretty good and the gig looked stunning. All the staff were super-helpful and friendly. Halifax is a lovely town, btw, and everyone seemed friendly to talk to. If I had a quibble...'m not convinced the balcony tickets we had were worth the extra cost. Yesh, you'd stay dry if it was raining, Blondie was a bit of a wash out for the people on the ground but other than that, the balcony is just a fairly narrow corridor overlooking the square and quite far back from the stage with no seating. If you go to the bar or toilet, chances are someone will have nicked your spot. Also, £16 for a pint and a vodka and coke from plastic glasses is a bit of a liberty. Toilet provision is very limited for balcony users. There are 4 or 5 individual toilets that were unisex as far as I could tell, and there was a queue at the end. Apart from that, I think this is a great venue and lovely to visit during the day. Really nice shops and good food.
First time here to see Noel Gallagher and the High Flying Birds & will definitely be back. We usually go into Manchester to see bands but this place is intimate and very well organised. We got Balcony tickets which were well worth the money - Plus the bar hardly had a queue Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
