There's joy in learning to pay the piano, particularly if you have a teacher like Darren.  He's patient, flexible, enthusiastic, has a great breadth of knowledge on all things piano (and human too).  I've been taking lessons since October 16 when I moved into the area.  I'm a mature student, and one of my 'do when I retire' promises was to re-learn to play the piano, my last lesson was when I was 7, so I've had a bit of a break.  Darren is an excellent teacher, lessons are fun and I'm really enjoying the experience, so much music to play, so little time !!

My 16 year old son has been learning the piano with Darren for nearly 2 years now. We originally chose Darren after I had a lengthy discussion with him about how my son had been playing only by ear and that he wanted to slowly learn how to read music whilst still playing pieces that interest him. He did not want to take exams but purely play for enjoyment and learn a bit more with each new piece he learned. 
This has worked well for my son and has kept his interest, exams would've been a complete turn off for him. 
He has learnt a wide variety of pieces, both classical and modern but Darren is always guided by what my son wants to do and also helps him find the music. 
For his ability to do what his students like whatever that may be, I would certainly recommend Darren.

I started piano lessons with Darren two years ago after finding him on google.  This has proved to be a brilliant decision as I will explain.  If like me you are thinking of beginning piano lessons then it is essential that your teacher knows how to get the very best out of you, and I am by the way an adult learner who has progressed at a remarkable pace currently reading and playing grade 5 pieces.
My journey learning and playing piano is now my life long hobby and I am not bothered about taking exams at the moment but that may change. Either way I know Darren can guide me through the learning process with absolute professionalism.
Darren is an excellent teacher and also a very fine pianist in his own right whose love of piano is infectious and I can certainly say that I have caught the bug.

My 9 year old son became interested in learning piano after listening to a class mate play at school.  I looked into Kirklees Music school, and then searched online (google). I found Darren, and when comparing the 2, and speaking with Darren, we decided to try Darren's free first lesson for several reasons - the price (not just the free one!), the duration of the lesson, not having to come out of lessons to attend music lesson and Daz is available every week, rather than term time only. Darren asks that a parent come in to watch the lesson as this helps when you get home, as you can help your child with practice.  I love going in to watch, it's wonderful to watch your child progress each week.  Darren is an excellent teacher.  He not only teaches the Piano, but he explains ways to learn.  My son loves the piano more each time he goes.  I cannot recommend Darren enough.  Thank you Daz!  my son would like to say 'Daz is really patient, he shows me what to do in a way that I can understand.  He gives me facts about piano, and music in general.  I am always really excited every week to go to my lesson'. Theo.

Darren has reintroduced me to playing the piano after many years; his obvious passion for music is infectious and he works at the right pace for me.   He is calm, patient and has a lot of knowledge about music and composers  which  make the lessons even more interesting.  I have online lessons which work well around my busy life which I can thoroughly recommend.
I would definitely recommend Darren as a piano teacher, to all ages.
