Ordered food with 30 min notice,,, although staff on phone and in shop were polite and friendly, majority of the food was inedible and thrown away, prawn toast too greasy, old refried chips , and the noodles had an over powering burnt smell/taste, disgusting,,, , foo yung watery and bland, very disappointingFood: 1/5
The dish is burnt, the nudge hard dish has potential just messy done. I will not buy anymore, two stars for many ingredients.fries looked great i could go get them instead of chinese dish

Have been coming here for the last 20 years. Always great food. Traditional Chinese Takeaway/Fish and Chips. Cash only. Parking: On street parking Wharton Road or down West Dudley Street. Wheelchair accessibility: Steps up into shop, so no wheelchair access. I expect if you make a telephone order they would bring it out to you.
The food is good but every single time you order food, they give you a time it will be ready and its never ready on time. Tonight we had to wait outside in the cold for over 20 mins when we placed the order 30 minutes prior to that 50 minutes in total for whats classed as fast food takeway Its collection not delivery. Just be honest with your customers so they don't have to wait over 20 minutes outside in the cold.

What else can be said about the Phoenix? Theres a reason it has been there for so many years. I grew up across the road from here and nothing has changed. A lot of the same staff are still there and the quality of the food is always fantastic. Every now and again the chips aren't great but I can live with that. Best Chinese in town by a million miles and unlike other Chinese takeaways they also always do excellent English dishes. Cant reccomend enough.
Horrid horrid horrid worst chinese takeaway meal I have ever had. Granted we got a good size portions but the texture of the meat in both dishes, 'fried ' beef & a chow mein meal was wrong & weird, soft slimy & leathery like eating slime covered playdoh, I say eat but in reality I couldn't eat even 1 piece it just made me wretch. Will possibly return for chips alone but never for a Chinese meal.
