A quick lunch on Sunday whilst on a journey to see family. Beautiful food! I had the duck breast which I highly recommend. No prices on the menus which was a bit of a surprise, the the bill wasn't larger than expected. This is certainly a Gastro pub with high standards! Highly recommended.Service: 5/5
We often meet friends at The Pheasant for lunch at the weekends and we are never disappointed. The food is delicious and plentiful. The roast beef comes with an enormous Yorkshire pudding and the sticky toffee pudding is irresistible - and I’m not really a pudding eater. The staff are always super friendly and professional. Highly recommended.
After having such wonderful meals at The Pheasant for so many years, we had a bitterly disappointing meal last Sunday. It has changed from a restaurant with an excellent reputation to a very average pub serving food. The quality of the food had deteriorated so much. I had a very mediocre Christmas dinner, with all the ingredients put on the cold plate in a puddle of watery gravy. Other meals were of small portions. The mackerel pate was introduced as tuna pate and the chocolate mousse was full of sugar granules. The waitresses and the waiter were working really hard but there weren’t enough of them. What a shame. We won’t be returning.
Friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms, including a Dyson fan, as it was mega hot. Good food. Matt was very attentive and the staff were always happy to help us, nothing was too much trouble, I really like the bathroom products and fully intend to buy my own. Very good breakfast too.Rooms: 5/5
Beautiful hotel rooms and decent pub! A great place for a night or two with lovely rooms and friendly staff. The pub has some great food but they were short staffed leading to some issues with wait times, bar staff missing and lack of knowledge or experience making the cocktails on the menu was a let down for us unfortunately. With a few small improvements this would be a solid 5.
Did not stay but went for dinner as we had very much enjoyed a meal there a few months previously. Service was poor white wine not chilled and not brought with chiller bucket, no advance notice of what was not available on the menu, dishes not cleared promptly. Steak was overdone and cassoulet was average. On the positive side the sea trout and crab dishes were very good and the wine was good!
Booked a one night stay several months ago through Mr & Mrs Smith. However, having read a few of the more recent reviews, was apprehensive that the stay wasn't going to be great. Stayed in the Tiny Room 15 which was small but perfect for a night away and tastefully decorated, with Bramley bathroom products. It would appear that there have been management and staff changes in the last couple of weeks and while some of the staff are still getting to grips with the place, I cannot fault the welcome, the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the service and food. It looks like they have made a good start to address the recent issues. We had a great stay and would be keen to revisit and see what further improvements are delivered in the coming months.
popped in for an unplanned meal at the pub. Staff were attentive and helpful. Atmosphere is fine provided you like horse racing and all that goes with it I remember the fight to stop fox hunting so I disliked some of the decor.. Food was sound pub fare. With so many great breweries like Butt's in the area it was disappointing to just have standard youngs beer on the pumps.
A last minute decision to stay overnight at the Pheasant Inn. Amy who was in charge made us feel welcomed and at home from the moment we stepped through the door. The rooms are very nice and comfortable and the food was excellent. Service was excellent and friendly. Thoroughly recommend.Rooms: 4/5
