Great market with great prices. Market is clean and organized. Variety of items to select from. They are not all used items, you can also get some new items at a very good price. I highly recommend it especially for tourists. The market is always packed so I recommend you go early 9am on Saturday to get good deals.
Our third attempt to visit this market, with our first a drive by on a bus, and a second when it was all closed in the late afternoon Reached around 9 on a Sunday morning and there’s still vendors coming in to set up their stalls, with a mix of seemingly used and new clothing for very very low prices; and souvenir stalls selling magnets for as low as £1 too! Definitely recommended to come by to stroll along this street market if you are in the Spitalfields area
I found some wonderful items. Mostly clothing, shoes, and souvenirs. A good stop as a tourist or local. I travel lightly and like to pick up some items for my stay. Gloves and a hat and T-shirts for the kids back home.
Was on Bus 205 on the way to Liverpool Street and we stopped at Liverpool Street Station. Turned the corner and we saw this lane with hawkers peddling clothes, souvenirs, etc.. Found out that this is one of East London's old market as well as shopping street. Closes at 3pm. It is situated near to Coventry University on Middlesex Street. The hawkers sell almost the same things as those in Thailand.
Petticoat Lane market which is situated just perpendicular to Commercial St in Spitalfields features an array of clothing stalls ranging from shirts, dresses, costs, shoes, belts and many more sold at a reasonable price. Bargaining is a must to obtain maximum value for your money. There are food stalls selling street food that will trance your taste buds. Be careful as it gets very crowded at times and take care of your belongings at all times.
Petticoat Lane Market is a fashion and clothing market in Spitalfields, London. It consists of two adjacent street markets. Wentworth street market is open six days a week and Middlesex street market is open Sunday only closes at 2pm. In Tudor times Middlesex street was known as Hogs Lane a pleasant lane lined by hedgerows and Elms. The market was not formally recognised until an Act of Parliament in 1936. But it's long history as an informal market makes it possibly one of the oldest surviving markets in Britain. Old Fables say that they were very popular for an eclectic selection of colourful silky petticoats.I have awarded the market five stars because I am fairly certain that I can see very interesting bargains lurking in its once murky depths. At this stage I am not 100% sure but I hope to return in the very near future to investigate. So watch this space ! Yes I thought that there was a good selection of shirts And some in my size too XXXL. These large shirts are quite difficult to find at a good price. But I have saved myself oodles and purchased two shirts for a very comparatively small price.
Petticoat is East London's premier market and is situated on Middlesex Street and in close proximity to Spitalfields. The market traders sell a variety of wares, including clothes, footwear, textiles, food, and much more Traditionally, the area has been synonymous on being the home of the Jewish community for many years, but over generations, the area has welcomed various cultures to the area, which add to its vibrancy.
I love this market. There's lots of fashions at great prices on Sundays... so cheap you won't need to haggle. I got good jeans here for between £5-£10. Business shirts from £3-£12.50. Proper stuff too. New and name brand. Amazing. Bring a tailor's measuring tape so you can check the sizes of any the clothes that might not be easy to try on whilst there. All week long there's great food here too. Nelly's or Nora's for brekkie. Wasuya or street-food stalls for lunch. Vegan foods at Dauns or Unity. Coffees & cakes at Urban Barista, Fazenda, Dauns or Eat The Damn Cake. Night cocktails at Discount Suit Company basement bar Next on my list to try is the new place called Paloma Cafe for mexican dinners and cocktails.
Visit on a Sunday, it's rather large with an excessive amount of crazy cheap clothing offerings, sourced from a variety of different places and methods. If your expectations are in line, it's a fun experience; there are all kinds of different people, great sounds, the smell of leather dominating most other less desirable smells, and some good deals to be had. Don't expect to get some discount Burberry, don't expect it to last too long; this is for cheap stuff.
The cheapest market in London. You can buy clothes, jewellery, perfumes, hand bags, shoes, belts, sunglasses etc. In your budget. Best time to visit On Sunday.
