On Friday I was gifted some money from a relative a very welcome surprise from a grueling week. I decided to get a haircut because it had been about a year and I planned to spend the weekend cleaning. I googled few nearby hairdressers and when Peter Marcus' number was not immediately obvious, so I used the number from the website. When the price was quoted it was a little more than expected but working 8am -7pm on week days and having something extra to treat myself I went ahead and booked 4.15. When I arrived at the Didsbury branch the shutters were closed, I released there must be two and rang them immediately. When I spoke to the man on the phone and explained what I had done fully expecting a cancellation he told me to head into the city to the second branch. Getting straight into my car it was a fifteen minute drive and he said there was parking on a nearby street. I was releaved when I got there in under half an hour as the parking was a little further away. When I arrived someone greeted me to say the stylist had left. I explained my situation and it became clear whoever I had spoken to had not communicated my situation. The man I spoke to didnt know what to say as he was fully booked he mentioned maybe a rebook and a discount. I was then passed over to the receptionist who tried to ring the Didsbury branch even though I explained it was closed. She then blamed me for not getting there on time and couldn't do anything for me as it was not their fault. I understand I got the branches wrong, but I would never have driven down if I had known they could see me, I also paid £5.80 for parking. It would've been nice as a courtesy to pay for parking or offer a rebook with a discount. Anyway my advice would be to have better communication as a team at the branch. I'm not sure when I can next get my hair cut. But it's safe to say I'm still upset by the whole thing.
I have spent years trying to find a hairdresser who understands my hair, and who can deal with my very picky personality! And I have found THE place. Thank you to Jess who always go the extra mile for me!
I went to Peter Marcus salon today for the first time. After having the same hairdresser for 29 years, my hairdresser had to stop working due to ill health. I was obviously very anxious about attending a new salon. From the moment I arrived, i was made to feel very comfortable. I had my colour completed with Donna, who looked at what i had previously had done, and did the same. She listened to why i didn't want bleach on the roots, and worked with my post lockdown mess. Even though my hair was difficult due to my 17 week re growth, Donna ensured we got a good result in the end. I had my hair cut with Joe, who was so understanding to my anxiousness, and finally had my hair washed and dried with Sam. All the team were lovely, and made me feel as relaxed as i possibly could be. I know over the next few visits we will be able to get my hair back to how it was pre coronavirus. Please pass on my huge thanks to Donna, Joe and Sam for all their hard work. Best wishes Sophie xx
I go to their Withington salon near Christie hospital. I must say I have never had a bad experience there, and have been going there now for many many years. I never have to wait long and the service is always excellent. Coffee is always offered and the staff are always courteous and professional. I have my hair cut by Julia, who is an exceptional hairdresser. So much so she is the only person I've let cut my hair for nearly 13 years now. Would highly recommend. And in particular Julia.
Been visiting Peter visiting Peter at his Salon for approaching 5 years. Always does a fantastic cut, always provides tips and knows exactly how to cut my hair. My hair is extremely curly and thick in some parts, thinner in others and generally a pain to style. Peter does wonders with the scissors and is worth every penny Joe is an amazing colourist and has seen me have many shades of blonde, always keeping an eye out on my my hair when colouring which is really tricky when blonde! Kelly on reception is always happy to help too and happy to have a chat! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a hairdresser :
Much of the overall experience in the salon was good friendly staff, cup of tea, clean, good wash and blow dry. However, Fiona, the hairdresser who cut my hair that day completely ruined the haircut for me. I told her what I wanted done and the advice about my hair type from previous hairdressers. She ignored all of this did what she wanted before I realised, cutting bits of hair off which I didn't ask to be cut off, leaving me to hide the flyaway bits that I was unhappy with using slides while they grew out. I can't speak for the other stylists at the salon, but if you do book an appointment, I'd recommend avoiding Fiona.
