Dog friendly, spacious and lovely food! Staff were very friendly! Big breakfast for £10 is very good value for money and delicious! Parking was free for 2 hours on the main road at certain times only. Parking: Few spaces but free for 2 hours at certain times.
Great food & service. Dinner was lush : would go here again #07/01/23 please come here and enjoy ; !!!
Lovely staff, upstairs and downstairs seating and dog friendly. Food came out a bit too quick, had toasties which was a bit soggy and chips not fully cooked in middle. Lovely cake selection and and hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows. Definitely worth a visit.
Great staff,so cheerful and calm, and hardworking.lots of dogs,we like that, and the soup is hot,we like that too.only one suggestion, can the bread with soup be changed or option of crusty white roll,or wholemeal roll?love Penny's,always come in when we're in Barney.
A good spot for lunch. Pretty busy, but I didn't have to wait particularly for anything - the coffee was pretty much instantaneous. The sandwich was pretty reasonable, although the sausage did make a bid for freedom, but was foiled by some quick finger work. The only thing I'd say to improve things is that I didn't realise there was an upstairs until I heard it mentioned to some people who came in after me. In fairness, there was a table downstairs for me.to sit at, which I did. That said, I'd have preferred to be a bit further from the door just to keep away from the cooler air coming in whenever anyone else came in or went out. There _is_ a notice about the upstairs seating, but it sort of fades into the background: if it was just that bit more visible, that would be perfect...
Great selection of food at a good price. Nice atmosphere & very friendly happy staff. Seemed really popular with regular locals meeting for food & coffees, which is always a good sign.

Lovely cake, friendly welcoming staff, reasonable prices.Food: 5/5
We love this establishment but unfortunately we live over one and a half hours away so only get to eat there two or three times a year when we are at Barnard Castle. See you again in May 2020
Seemed like a nice place from the outside, but don't think we'll bother again. The chairs were hard and uncomfortable, the table was sticky, and the breakfast was below average. For £9.75 you expect a bit of quality, but it was nothing you couldn't get in a Wetherspoons. The sausages are apparently 'local butcher's sausages'. If I knew which butcher I wouldn't be visiting there either. Tiny and unappetising chipolatas that simply weren't nice. The bacon was ok but thick sliced, so tough, and the fat wasn't rendered properly. The mushrooms were watery and lukewarm. The tomato had been fried instead of roasted, so wasn't cooked through. On the plus side, toast was decent. Just not for me.
