Lovely little cafe. The staff on the day of our visit were polite, helpful and friendly and surprisingly young.....a credit to the business.
Small and cozy cafe. It's very clean and has attentive staff, good all round. The food looks great and is delicious would very much recommend.
Great little bistro, well situated across from the park. Atmosphere is upmarket and welcoming. Staff are friendly and well presented and service is well timed. A little on the pricey side but very enjoyable. Kitchen is spotless able to see on way to the loo
The tea and scones were great but be prepared to wait if busy. But well worth the wait. Will definitely be calling in again. The place is clean with friendly staff and the food that was coming out looked great. And plenty on each serving.
Smashing place, great tea, great coffee and good food - all at very reasonable prices. Staff nice and very helpful. We were in Matlock to visit the Christmas market so everywhere was full and this place was compact and a little slow but I put that down to volume of people. I'd imagine this is a great place to meet friends for a catch up mid-week. I'd certainly go back off I'm in Matlock again... Thanks to all the staff - still smiling and serving great quality sustenance even late on a very busy day!
Fab cafe, great choice of cakes from Angel Cake to Pecan and Caramel Brownies. Lovely choice soft drinks and my 7 year old enjoyed her tea! I can see how it would be busy during holidays and weekends but we had a very nice midweek refreshment stop. Thank you JJ's
Staff not very attentive, I couldn't get wifi password, I clearly indicated a well-baked scone but got a very pale one. I got coffee after some time from ordering and my scone came yet some ten minutes later, when my coffee was already cold, very scant on cream. On the bright side the scone was rather flavoursome. Great location for visiting the town, with a view on the park across the street.
We returned again to JJ'S today. As always,the staff are so welcoming & friendly. They have a great selection of light lunches & beautiful cakes. I ordered a 3 cheese Panini,thinking it would be different cheddars- it came with Goats cheese which I don't eat. The owner,very kindly changed it to my amazement,as it was totally my fault for not asking. This customer service was above & beyond anything I've seen. They are also very accommodating for our large dog. Will definitely be back... lovely place to eat & drink:-
We love this place, the staff are always friendly, the atmosphere is relaxing, the service normally prompt unless very busy and the food is great if you want a light meal, snack or a quick bite to eat. They normally have a fair range of cakes on offer to go with your tea, coffee or smoothie or can do tea cakes or scones if you prefer. If the weather is warm, you can sit outside as they have 4 or 5 tables there to sit and enjoy the views into the park opposite. James gets a special mention as he makes a cracking Latte! Keep it up JJ's.
From the menu and the ambience trying to position itself quite upmarket, it therefore came as a surprise to find the side salad still wet from washing and with no dressing whatsoever. My meal was also supposed to come with root vegetable crisps. They didn't have any. These would be relatively trivial matters in a more inexpensive establishment but at the prices they are charging you would expect better. That said, the quiche was very good.
