Food is usually pretty good, but recently let down with SHOCKING customer service! I ordered a takeaway for my family and travelled to the restaurant to collect. A lady brought it out to me and read out the order, before handing me the bag. The order she read out was correct and exactly what I had asked for. Unfortunately, when I got home, one of the dishes was wrong. We had ordered a portion of sweet and sour chicken, but were given sweet and sour pork. I telephoned to tell them and ask what could be done. The phone was answered by a lady, who was initially polite. I explained the situation and she told me I would have to return the portion in order to be given the correct one. I explained that I didn't live in Bedford, but in one of the surrounding villages, so that would be inconvenient as the rest of the food would go cold. I asked if the correct one could be delivered, but she refused. With no convenient solution for a replacement dish, I asked for a refund for the cost of the incorrect portion. However, she told me I would have to bring the portion back in order to get a refund! Again, I said that was not an option and queried why it had to be returned as it wasn't as if it could be served to another customer. She insisted I would have to return it. I explained that I don't go into the town centre very often and would be unlikely to be passing the restaurant any time soon, during its open hours, so it could be weeks! However, she still insisted that it should be returned! I've never heard anything as ridiculous! I asked again why the refund could not be made now, whilst I was on the phone. Surely it could be placed back onto the card I used to purchase it? She told me it couldn't and said that she needs the manager's approval. I asked her to get the manager and do just that. She said he wasn't there. I asked when he would be back and she said she didn't know! I asked her to explain why she needed approval when clearly, the restaurant was at fault. I said that surely the manager would understand and that there must be a policy in place for such a situation and that I also had consumer rights. She then told me that she needed the manager to put the PIN into the card machine in order to process a refund and that he was the only person who knew the PIN!!! Seriously??!! The conversation went back and forth, with me stating that the situation was unacceptable and her telling me she wouldn't refund and would only swap the food if I brought it in. When I asked what would happen if I was only able to return to the restaurant in a couple of weeks, when I didn't then want the correct portion, she said I would get a refund on my card!!!! I asked how would that be possible if the manager wasn't there and how could I guarantee that he would be there before I arrived? She told me that I should ring first before I arrived!! Her tone had been becoming more and more aggressive and she got very angry and by now, was shouting down the phone at me! I asked several times for her not to shout and get angry as it was completely unacceptable. Eventually, I realised that I wasn't going to get anywhere with this incredibly rude, unprofessional and unhelpful lady, so I had to agree but asked for the manager to call me at his earliest convenience, before I then hung up. Unbelievably terrible customer service, shocking behaviour and attitude and I don't believe for a second that she could not have refunded my card there and then, whilst on the telephone. I know it's not a huge amount, however, out of principle and consumer law I would imagine, I would like the refund. This happened in November and I've not been past the restaurant since during opening hours and I haven't heard anything more from them.
AUTHENTIC CHINESE FOOD & QUALITY Eaten here a few times now, food is always exceptional, fresh & tasty. Very friendly staff & very good service. The Chicken with Ginger & spring Onions & Chicken with green peppers in black bean sauce was so very delicious. It was one of the best that I've had so far.
We have been ordering from this restaurant for a couple of years now. The food, service and delivery is always above standard. The food is always cooked fresh - considering the waiting time since lockdown, the chef's along with drivers do an amazing job getting the food to us whilst hot and fresh. Hands down the best Chinese in Bedford. My friends out of town always enjoy it!
Food ordered on Saturday night which was absolutely beautiful. First time I've ordered from Peking Palace in under a year and my oh my, this is now my go to Chinese in Bedford. The chicken balls were full and soft. King prawn dish was so tasty and so many prawns in the meal. Veggie spring rolls were incredible too. Overall a fantastic meal, delivered quicker than advised on the phone, authentic Chinese cuisine at its best. Recommend Peking highly
Amazing food every time! I ordered 3different curries and all were delicious,love it .i recommend also crispy Duck and sauce !fantastic .Thank you for the great and fast delivery and your friendly staff.
OMG! What has happened to this restaurant? We ordered a takeaway during the second lockdown for a special occasion knowing that in the past we have had great, tasty food. Well, this time we were in for a shock. The aromatic duck was dry and over cooked and the main meals were of very poor quality. The black bean sauce was thin and with no flavour and green peppers and onions soft and soggy! Obviously reheated - really tasteless. I would like to have thought that all meals were freshly prepared to order - obviously not. The only good things were the prawn crackers! Most of our meal ended up in the bin! Overall very disappointed and we will not be using this restaurant again.
Very poor customer services. Told me 1 hours 15 to deliver my order so I asked to collect, they said 45 minutes instead. I arrive at the place after 40 minutes they told me another 20 minutes. Called again after that they said come round the back it's ready to cillect. Came around the back and look still no food, they told us another 5 minutes. The women on the phone was very rude and did not apologize for their actions once. I do not recommend.
Very good and tasty food! They made a mistake with my takeaway order and really went above and beyond to make it right. You don't often see that dedication to customer service from a small restaurant/takeaway. Highly recommended.
Went for a work meal, there were 30 of us and the restaurant was able to accommodate us all and keep a very good level of service. The food was great, we tried many dishes and I can't complain about any of them. The decor of the restaurant does look dated and slightly dark but it is still a great place considering the food.
Shocking evening with 12 friends week ago never experienced such appalling service they where concentrating on takeaway orders and not all those in the restaurant!! They even stated that as a reason as to why we and others hadn't been served. When food arrived for some of the group it was variable, good to bland. Some in group cancelled main course after another 45 min wait. Other groups also experienced the same. They I expect where short staffed and possibly the chef was overloaded.
