Nice little Chinese takeaway, although the sweet n sour chicken balls are a little on the small size compared to other takeouts. The food is great. Highly recommendedFood: 5/5
Dishes are generally OK. Avoid crispy chilli beef as it is dire. Used to be really good and probably the best in Grove / Wantage, that is no longer the case and others are nice and will deliver
Recently moved to the area and thought I wouldn’t find a take away place as good as my previous. Boy was i wrong!! Every time I visit it’s a pleasure always greeted as soon as you enter and always reads your order back before leaving to make sure they haven’t missed anything off. Highly recommend if you haven’t already tried!!
Good little local Chinese. No deliveries, but the food is prepared very quickly. Great food and helpful staff however their prices have been creeping up. I will probably always come here but probably a bit less due to how much the prices have increased by. As an example we have always got the same food from there give or take but the price now for the two of us is nearly £40 obviously have some leftovers but this used to be under £30 when we moved here. Don't let the prices deter you! The staff are great and the food is fantastic!!
Where was the flavour? Chicken chow mein had practically boiled chicken on top. Kung-fu po chicken has 0 flavour/spice. Not good and very expensive for very bland food.
Like a Chinese version of Fawlty Towers. Returned inedible beef, phoned in advance to explain the issue was told to bring it back for exchange . When Once I handed the food back, the lady inspected it and accused me of having "eaten most of it". Then almost like a scene straight from Faulty Towers she began digging into it and counting pieces of meat. Eventually handed over my replacement meal after some huffing and puffing. I've been coming here over the past year as my port of call for Chinese food in the area for a year. I've never had an issue with the food before, and service has always been good. However, when something goes wrong, it speaks volumes how they respond and fix the problem. I understand that meat is a natural problems and sometimes there will be quality issues. If this had been dealt with graciously, I'd have remained a customer. But I draw the line firmly when I am accused of fraud. Atrocious attitude. Never again.
Twice now our order has not been correct and twice the owner has refused to accept the mistake was theirs. Following a polite phone call to notify the owner of the missing/incorrect items, expecting the mistake to be easily rectified, the owner was very rude and totally unhelpful on both occasions. Perhaps it may be that they are having just a "bad day" when they treat their customers disrespectfully on one occasions. But, when it happens twice, it would appear this is probably the owners normal reaction to having their mistake pointed out. We have only ordered from this takeaway because it is the nearest. However, from now on we will be ordering from, arguably the better takeaway, a mile away. This is certainly a takeaway to avoid for both bad service and occasionally poor quality.
Recently changed owners, bought in all new chefs. The old owners were great, been going there for 20 years and never had a problem but since the new owners took over, my partner got food poisoning both times he's been there. Would not recommend.
Basically this and the Indian restaurant are the two good takeaway options in Grove. Small shopfront with only parking for three cars max although most evenings there's two more spots at the hairdressers next door. More parking is available at the shops a couple of minutes walk away. Food is good, and the choice reasonable. Can be very busy on the normal times like a Saturday evening so worth calling up beforehand to order rather than simply turning up.
3rd time here in 10 days. 1st time NP, very nice. 2nd time. I wanted the same dish, only card with me, £8.50 under £10 can't use card, walked out. 3rd time I had cash, dish was VERY salty. 1 out of 3. probably will not use again.
