Gorgeous big park ideal for a short or long walk & bringing the dog! Coffee van is a lovely touch too. Lots of bins around the entrance but not on the walking routes so much so bear that in mind. Good toilet facilities. Lots of picnic benches which would be great for a picnic or bbq in the nicer weather. Already can’t wait to go back here after our first visit today.
Beautiful spot to walk and take kids , large park kids loved it , lots of walks , wee train doesn't seem to be in action sadly , and there is areas that are neglected. Worth a visit .
Excellent climbing area built for all sizes of kids. The walks and the information are worth a visit. 1st class
On Sunday , my family and I went to Peatlands Park. The weather was lovely, the walk was terrific. We took a picnic which we ate at one of the many picnic tables, one in the beautiful orchard. There are a few different walks to take, it was not crowded so it was possible to chat and watch the grandkids. The facilities here are very good the toilets are clean and well maintained. The play park is lovely a big effort has been made to make it appealing for kids and sympathetic to the landscape with carvings and cut outs. Great day out
Great place for walking or running. The Peatland park is located just off the M1 at junction 13. There's a visitor centre, good carpark, miniature train, children's play area, toilets, two nature reserves, a bog garden, ponds and a lake. There are 5 colour coded walks ranging from 1 to 5 miles. The red trail is 5 miles and takes you around the whole park. The play area, visitor centre, train and picnic area are handily close to the carpark. Good to visit any time of the year, but would be best in the summertime.
Fantastic park. Well maintained and accessible for wheelchairs. Beautiful scenic walks, a good children’s play area and plenty of picnic areas.
A great place for a walk, picnic, there is also a playground for children, you can admire boggy mud, plants and ponds with birds, there is also a narrow-gauge railway Ivrecommend it because it is a place to spend time with the family
A free park that protects some of our precious natural environment. Suitable for all ages. Loads of trails. Larger ones probably not suitable for prams in parts. Lots of benches for a picnic.
Really nice place for a walk. Plenty of room to explore and run around. Anyone interested in nature or the outdoors would enjoy it. Kids loved the ducks and watching dragonflies, butterflies and caterpillars. Just a pity the train wasn't running. Lovely, sunny, hot day in the middle of summer holidays with plenty of families about, missing a trick. Also the main toilets were out of order due to "technical difficulties" but they have a couple of portaloos and accessible toilet was open.
We regularly walk around Peatlands Park and it offers a good variety of different length walks. There is a mixture of walking surfaces too, eg, tarmac, boardwalk and bark. Therefore some routes are unsuitable for those with limited mobility. The boardwalks are well maintained and have been upgraded over the last couple of years. There are plenty of free car parking spaces but the car park can be busy on weekends and during school holidays. Littering and dog fouling is rare even though there are very few bins. There are plenty of birds and wildfowl to be seen, for example, mallards, robins, goldcrests and bullfinches. The staff maintain the park well. The childrens' playpark has been upgraded too. I would recommend this as a place to visit if you like to walk.
