I had a great experience at Pavers Shoes. The main bloke at the shop, I think he was called Tim or Lee (his name was definitely three letters long), was helpful after appearing to mistake me for an undesirable by not so subtly following me around for a few minutes. Once our eyes met and we had engaged in dialogue he boasted a vast knowledge of shoes which made me feel warm. The first thing I noticed upon entering Pavers was that the room had a nice smell which reminded me of being inside a shoe shop. There was not a huge selection of trainers for a fellow like me, which was unfortunate as mine currently have holes in and I could really do with a new pair. There did seem to be many more shoes for women than for men, which I will admit, rattled me slightly. I couldn't figure out whether this said something about the manager of the shop, society or biology. Perhaps they're all accountable or maybe I've missed something? Anyway, now wasn't the time for deconstructing the matriarchy, I had the perfect shoe to find. Lots of smartish, reasonably scented shoes available for a man of my calibre. I tried on about 4 shoes before one caught my eye and made me go to grab my mummy's hand, but it wasn't there. Some of the shoes did smell like they had been tried out by a lot of different people, but that didn't stop me from considering putting them on my foot. The prices of the shoes are very reasonable, I got myself an absolute stonker of a pair for 45 big ones. They are brown and smell reasonable. As soon as I blessed my foot with the shoe, I knew we were going to be together. I don't usually purchase brown shoes but you know, new year, new me. You can't hold me back! I did become a little disappointed in there not being refreshments served as I ended up spending over an hour inside while I smelled the shoes and found the perfect shoe for my superior foot. Location-wise Pavers is probably only accessible if you have a car, motorbike, moped, bicycle, scooter, mobility scooter, heelies, electric unicycle, Segway or live in Melbourn or Shepreth, unless you're up for a long walk or a pleasant but long journey through the heart of the English countryside, or the A10. Personally, I would consider coming back for another shoe from Pavers, providing these ones don't break too quickly. This is a must visit shop for anyone looking for a new shoe or two and who lives in the area and doesn't want a trainer and likes the smell of new shoes and doesn't fancy having refreshments while shoe shopping. 4/5 - pleasant experience.
