Friday Gourmet Groupies Discover a Hidden Gem at Pauls Restaurant, BottesfordnA scenic drive through the Vale on a gloriously sunny day set the perfect tone for the latest Friday Gourmet Groupies lunch, where the group landed at Pauls Restaurant in Bottesford. A fresh find for many and one that quickly earned rave reviews from all fifteen enthusiastic diners.nFor several members, Pauls was a delightful detour from their usual stomping grounds making this outing an enjoyable step outside their usual lunch territory. The venue delivered on every level; with a spacious private dining area, beautifully set tables complete with linen tablecloths and napkins, and a welcoming atmosphere, the scene was set for something special.nThe food did not disappoint. Each dish was stylishly presented and packed with flavour, with a menu that offered variety and imagination. Every course looked as good as it tasted, and some diners happily declared it would have been a shame not to go for all three courses. The kitchen impressed not only with its creativity but also its ability to accommodate various dietary preferences. While it would be helpful if the menu clearly indicated gluten-free options, the staff managed individual requirements smoothly and with care.nThe attentive yet discreet service mirrored that of a fine evening service, proving that lunch can be just as refined making a pleasant surprise for a midday meal.nThe dining room layout offered plenty of space and privacy, allowing the Group to chat and laugh freely without fear of disturbing others. As always, the company made the meal even more enjoyable, and the friendly, inclusive nature of the group helped create a relaxed afternoon gathering.nMany felt this may well have been the best venue yet, noting how effortlessly it combined elegance, comfort, and excellent cuisine.
We were treated here for a meal accompanying our friends. Haven't been for years and standards have changed. A lovely friendly environment to enjoy some beautiful food. Staff were extremely efficient and polite which adds to the experience. We went for 3 courses, all super except maybe that two of us had the crab and salmon started and were both disappointed. No taste of crab and it was very watery. All the other course made up for it though, sea bass was beautiful and the beef out of this world. Look forward to a return visit.
Visited for a group booking and we had a great time. I was excited before going as the menu had so many tasty options and we weren't disappointed!!
Paul and I go back a long way 1998 seeing as though you asked! and I've loved watching his business grow. This place is at the very heart of my culinary journeys back to the UK - I grew up in Bottesford, it's calling brings me back every few years and whenever I'm back I visit here - the food is divine, the location superb, the ambience and staff first class. We celebrated with great friends and as usual seemed to be the last to leave, but that's fine; we're like a Labrador, overly friendly, always hungry but very well behaved! 10/10 Paul and team. xx
Everything is beautifully presented and the lunchtime deal is good value for such high quality. It being a Friday lunchtime in school holidays it was quiet - which suited us but might not do much for atmosphere. The fish starter and mains with a bowl of excellent seasonal vegetables were very good - as, no doubt, where the meat ones. But a vegetarian would struggle - not sure a vegetarian burger seems the right fit for this slightly classy venue .
