Patchings Art Centre

About

Patchings Art Centre - for the enjoyment of art.

Story

Patchings opened in 1988 as a centre for the enjoyment and involvement in art. Over the years we have continued to promote art making participation as accessible and fulfilling as possible. At Patchings there are three exhibition galleries with monthly changes of exhibitions, an Art School programme with a wide range of workshops and courses for all levels and interests. Our art and craft materials shop and Framing Centre provide additional facilities for the artist which includes an 'on line at shop'. To inspire we have seven Studio Artists based at Patchings working in a variety of medium. Details of their work and contact information is on our website. Cafe Patchings offers specialist teas and coffees, snacks and meals. Each year we host two major events. A four day Art Craft and Design Festival now in its 19th year and recognised nationally as a major art and craft event. In November we hold our popular 3 day indoor Christmas Market.
Plenty to see and do at Patchings. Keep up to date on our Facebook pages.

Great galleries, restaurant and craft shop AND delightful wild gardens with an artists trail. All for free. Large car parks as well
So beautiful and peaceful. Loved walking the whole circuit, the art and the gift shop. Will definitely return.
Decent art shop, lovely, friendly cafe restaurant and beautiful grounds. And a great place to paint!
The cafe here was okay although it could do with some signage like 'Please be seated and wait for a server'. It wasn't just us who were confused about where to go. Patchings was not particularly wheelchair friendly. I could use the cafe, but there was a high threshold into the art shop, a narrow doorway into the gift shop and all the galleries were upstairs. It looked as though the only entrance to the studio was up two steps. There is disabled parking but not sufficiently wide to open car doors fully.
Lovely collection of galleries, art store and cafe with events that are worth keeping an eye out for such as artisan markets
Lovely staff, great menu . Good prices. Great little shops nearby. Thanks
Great local arts and crafts place in Nottinghamshire. Artists work on site and are happy to have a chat about what inspires them, talk about the the things they have designed etc.

RACISM!! This was so blatant this is the first time and hopefully last, I have to write something like this. Sat down near the counter in full view of the waitresses. Got menus ourselves and decided what to have within a few minutes. We weren’t greeted, nor welcomed, and got no service from the staff. At one point around the 10min mark of being ignored and seeing everyone else be seen too, I made eye contact with one waitress at the counter who said she’ll be just 1min, minute passed, nothing happened. She seemed genuine but 30 mins had now passed and within that time I had to watch the other two waitresses the 2 young waitresses -who I’m complaining against- do their best to ignore us, greet and seat everyone else and even serve/take orders of people who arrived AFTER us. Waitresses were casually walking to and from the kitchen, didn’t make any contact, didn’t even look in our direction. Eventually got attention of same lady who said “she’ll be 1min”- and genuinely seemed to be trying to run things- who said, “ Sorry, I thought one of the girls came over.” Now being the only minority in there and seeing everyone get served but you, when they watched you walk in and sit down in front of them, smacks of racism. First I sent an email to Patchings to give an opportunity to reply. And the lady advised they will talk to the staff and hoped we come back. The full reply was fair and she seemed concerned. But I don’t want anyone else to experience what I went through regardless of their race, religion, colour, creed, disability, etc. So felt compelled to bring this to light publicly or waitresses might think they’ll get away with doing this again. I must point out: the lady in the art supplies store is lovely, and so is the gift shop lady and the chap painting in the art studio. It’s just a shame the 2 young waitresses let this experience down. I will come back to the cafe and hopefully get treated fairly.
