Service was amazing. 24 Flight delay caused a no show for the first day, but staff was able to quickly retrieve reservations in the system and even offered to bring up some breakfast as we had just missed the complimentary breakfast. Property is a Victorian building on a quiet tree lined street close to Paddington Station, restaurants, and central London Attractions. Rooms were standard in size for the UK, but had so much character and charm. We booked here a second time after a short trip. The Front Desk remembered us from before and surprised us with upgrades both rooms to deluxe room suites, which were twice the size of a standard room in the U.S. Only regret was that we weren't able to stay longer.
This hotel isn’t very nice. The room was quite run down the furniture was broken and severely marked. There was absolutely no space to put your stuff down in the room, it’s like they needed to add another table. They’re cheap with fresh towels and toilet paper. We had to ask twice for more toilet paper because they would never replace it. Also, the elevator broke while we were staying. Overall, just not a great hotel and I’d recommend staying elsewhere. The one positive was the location, with its proximity to Paddington station. That’s probably it.
==Nice Hotel - Good Location - Friendly Service== We stayed there for 6 nights. The front desk staffs are helpful as well as offer friendly service! As the mobility concerns, they immediately switch a larger room in one level instead two levels according to our reservation!~ The hotel location is convient, just few minutes walk from Paddington station. However, you may need to compromise a little bit of noise. The acoustic can be improved. Great thanks to Rania, Stella, Jeana and Priscilla!~
I really thought I was going to get a better room. It was horrible! The first room next to reception and the little breakfast area. Omg! What a disappointment. It looked like it was an office before and they made it into a room. Just because I was there for 1 night and was very tired from my trip didn't ask to be moved. What a disappointment. I was there with my daughter and husband and really wanted to make a good impression with her! And oh boy did I did!! but a bad one. I'm never coming back with so many nice hotels in London. Sorry. Rooms: To small and not a hotel room! It looked like it was an office or nothing and they just put beds in there with a horrible division between the bathroom and the room. Walkability: Excellent location.
Tiny, cold box room with two thin, old and miniature towels. Decrepit furniture with chips and loose hinges. Duvet was an inch thick at most. The bar was closed because "the bartender was not working today". I ended up putting the mini towels over the top of the duvet to keep warm overnight. I could barely fit in the shower and there was no bathmat. At breakfast I was given sachets of instant coffee and a pot of hot water. This was supposed to be a "deluxe room" in a four star hotel - a joke. Staff were pleasant but I'm sorry, this is neither a deluxe nor a four star experience.
I booked a last minute room for a business trip Checking in was a bit of a nightmare as the Receptionist kept insisting that I provided a Passport or Driving Licence. When I explained that I’m a UK citizen and don’t need to provide this, he didn’t understand. Eventually he accepted the booking email that I had received. The rooms are comfortable. Tone AC was very noisy and had to turn it off. I was constantly woken up by people walking around in the room above me as the floor boards creaked very loudly. Wouldn’t stay again as there are better Hotels at this price point.
ABSOLUTE SCAM!! Firstly, this is NOT a 4 star hotel! Do not be fooled by website and pictures. We had booked 4 nights in the hotel and were given a room in the basement right beside the restaurant. We were woken every morning at 6am by staff and guests slamming doors. Before we had spent one night in this room we asked for a different room and they were unable to accommodate us. Apart from this the room was extremely small and the bed as well. WiFi was not working. Our stay was completely underwhelming and local drivers explained the whole area is a 2 star area. Avoid!!
Let’s start with the fact that this review is valid if your hotel stay is going to be 1-2 nights ONLY! Anything more than that and it WILL fall short … Because it’s an old Victorian building the rooms are TINY ! And I mean TINY !! I weigh 52 kgs and stand at 157 cms tall and the single room shower was cramped for me. If your larger-taller than that, it’ll be unbearable The room was smaller than my university dorm by nearly half the size . It worked for me because I only slept at night in the room and was out most of the day. Heating and shower are good especially during the December snowstorm. The problems with the room however include a very bad and soft bed into which one sinks. The bedding isn’t the best quality and there are stains on the wallpaper and in the bathroom which desperately need updating and upgrading Another issue is not all rooms can be reached by the lift so if you have heavy and a lot of luggage, be prepared to carry it up or down the stairs. Thankfully I was only one floor up from the ground. The BEST part of this hotel is that London Paddington train station is a 3 minutes walk away AND Hyde Park is 6 minute walk away from the hotel. It’s also very central and most attractions can be reached easily The staff are helpful and shoutout to Alice/Alesia for being extra friendly and kind to me. The rooms also have a well stocked tea-coffee-biscuit situation which is useful when one is tired and hungry But again I do maintain that this isn’t a hotel one can stay in for long term. It’s just too small. The closet will barely accommodate clothes beyond 2-3 days’ worth. Moreover in the single room, there’s no place to open one’s suitcase and unpack properly. Had to move stuff from the table like the phone to make place to flat lay my suitcase But for my trip and limited use of hotel space, this served the purpose very well and I can’t complain as such. The train station proximity in particular was VERY USEFUL to me
I tend to see the best in people, so I will assume that the staff of this hotel are grossly incompetent rather than outright thieves. We ended up being charged twice for a one-night stay: once for the actual stay, and again - with an additional penalty - for being a "no-show" for that exact stay. Despite this being such an obvious error on their side, it's taken several emails and phone calls and endless waiting on hold while being transferred back and forth only to get absolutely nowhere in resolving the issue. Emails ignored, promised call-backs never happening - they generally don't seem to care. The one person who did seem to care in their central reservations service did not seem to be in a position to do anything about it. The poorly-maintained basement room that we were sent to was almost comically cramped. Although we were not bothered by street noise, there was a lot of disturbing noise from pipes, other rooms and what sounded like a rat scurrying around in the ceiling. Even though €250 for one night in this sort of room is absurd, I would have just written this off as "well, that's just London, at least it was convenient". But since we've paid more than €500 at this point, plus the international phone calls and time taken to deal with their entirely disinterested staff, I felt like I needed to write a review.
This places big selling point is how close it is to the Paddington station. If you're flying in from Heathrow you can take the express straight to the station and then it's a minute walk to the hotel. The rooms fairly small and nothing fancy. Staff is nice and friendly but again you're only staying here for the proximity to the tube.
