Parc Tawe Retail Park

Story

Parc Tawe is a retail park and leisure area in Swansea, Wales. It is located in the eastern area of the city centre on the west bank of the River Tawe in the Lower Swansea valley. The area includes "out-of-town" style stores with car parks located outside the shopping area. A highly visible building in the area is the Plantasia - a large triangular tropical plant house. Entertainment in the area include a 10 screen UCI In 29 September 1989 until 2006 (Then: Odeon cinema) and a ten pin bowling alley. The area occupied by Parc Tawe was once the North Dock. The North dock was opened in 1852 becoming the first dock in the Swansea docks complex. During the 1930s changes in methods of working, reduced trade and the increasing size of ships led to the North Dock being closed and subsequently filled in. For decades the North dock area was an industrial wasteland, until re-development as a shopping complex in the late 1980s.Parc Tawe is divided into two shopping areas separated by the road linking the Parc Tawe Bridge with Strand Row: the original Parc Tawe area and the newer Parc Tawe North. Units located in Parc Tawe include Joe's Ice Cream, Toys 'R' Us, Staples, Mothercare World and Carpet Right. Retailers in Parc Tawe North include Homebase, Lidl, Outfit, JJB Sports, JD Sports, Pound Stretcher, Pets At Home and Home Bargains.

A good range of shops, food and entertainment venues but the parking limitations majorly let this place down! Why it isn't 3 hours like the other carpark is beyond me! I was also not aware that Costa no longer extends your parking stay. After zipping around the shops in the limited 2 hours, we went for coffee and a sandwich to end the trip, but found we could not enter our registration to extend our stay. The staff advised this was no longer accommodated by them and that we would need to go to the cinema - I'm not doing that for the sake of a coffee and snack, so we left. I wish that these parking companies would review these stupid decisions to rush shoppers out when there are so many shops to see
It smells of cheese and not the nice smelling kind.nThey love to fine you if you park here for more than 3 hours. They'll fine you a days wages for the people who work here. Now thats robbery.
A decent shopping area with a pretty wide range of stores from charity store, shoe shops, food store and general goods store. There are eating places in the complex as well as a cinema and ten-pin bowling alley.nParking is free though time restricted and as far as I saw, the premises were all wheelchair friendly
Got better in recent years having its refurb and lots of new shops and attractions, but they have a ruthless parking system that means if you are over 2 hours you have to use the tablet in some of the selected areas to validate it.nIv always known it as 3 hours so lucky I checked!nBut seriously if you go to the cinema it's more than 2 hours in its self never mind going for food or bowling or any number of the things there.
Plenty of big brand shops, a zoo and a Ninja adventure centre for the kidsnThe problem is that your time spent exploring the attractions must not exceed 2 hrs or you will receive a hefty parking ticket
