Was very different to a normal cinema, it felt historic and rustic. It needs love and attention but that will only come from people paying to go. For me during these strange covid times it was perfect as not many people were there. They have 2 screens showing the films so plenty of space. I feel it's a place to go back to and support to allow history to keep on going. Also its half the price of the normal cinema to see the same blockbuster films!!
The screen and sound were good and we enjoyed the film. Unfortunately the doors were locked when we arrived we were 10 min late, assuming there would be adverts before the film. We knocked and were let in a little reluctantly, as the member of staff said he had already switched off the film because there was no one to watch it. Apparently in this cinema the films actually start at the time scheduled with no adverts or trailers preceeding them - something to bear in mind. It feels a little sad and run down over all, with threadbare carpets and some rubbish around. But we only paid £5 and the film experience was alright. A little more welcome and friendliness would have gone a long way.
It is what it is and I think it's a great experience. I've lived in the area for 25 years and didn't think of going there. It makes the big places look greedy. Love it. You can park in local streets and that saves nearly £5. Sweets and drinks come out of the cardboard box they were delivered in; prices great; seats comfortable; picture quality excellent. I love it when they write out your personal ticket when it's busy. 10 minutes from home. A great evening out. We're reluctant to go anywhere else. Keith
I love this cinema! It has its own independent feel to it which adds to the experience. The owner is very nice and the prices for the tickets are the perfect price. Will be sad to see it go :
Short review: Decent screens, decent sound, comfy seats, very cheap tickets! Long review: This is an independently-owned cinema owned by a guy local to the area. From what I've heard down the grapevine, this is a project of love for him, and it shows! The tickets are sensibly priced, and everything about the place is at least of Good level. There are two screens, one smaller one downstairs and a bigger one upstairs - both are pretty damn good screens better than watching at home, and there's proper cinema-quality sound in both too. The seats are a little old but very comfy. The place definitely has a "independent cinema" feel to it, which means it's not corporate-grade sterile; if you want to freeze in a sterile room with hundreds of other cinema-goers, this is probably not the place to you. One of the big reasons I go here so often is that the tickets are so sensibly priced the standard is £5.50 for adults, and cheaper for everyone else, and even the snacks and drinks are priced at normal levels i.e. not hawked up to absurd prices like corporate chains. It's my local cinema, and I can definitely recommend it!
Amazing value - £5.50 per adult to see the latest releases! Two screens with a not more than 100 seats each and at least 4 screenings a day this is despite its faded appearance a business that is worth supporting given the cost of tickets at other cinema's within 20 miles.
Wonderful cinema , took my niece a few times and it felt more like watching a movie with a bunch of friends. This cinema deserves support as cinemas like this really don't exist anymore its very unique , Alton would be poorer if it lost this place for sure.
A fantastic little cinema, with enough charm to eclipse its shabby appearance. Our kids love it there, we can walk to it and watch the latest films at a fraction of the cost of large chain cinema's. The breadth of films means it can legitimately call itself an Art House Cinema. The staff a friendly and the overall experience is great. Highly recommended.
Lovely small quiet place, always shows good movies and it is very cheap. It is a very good local cinema to take the kids on a rainy day, I usually get the bus with my friends and to get a return ticket for the bus and a cinema ticket and some snacks it still is about 10 pounds, which you would usually spend in a big cinema on just a ticket.
Great independent cinema showing great films. May not spend money on the decor - it could be described as an original flea pit - but it has great programming. No other cinemas for 30 miles around were showing a great British film Children Act they showed it on Saturday.
