Painshill Park
"Painshill 18th century landscape garden was created between 1738 and 1773, by the Hon. Charles Hamilton. Inspired by Renaissance art and his Grand Tours across Europe, he created a sequence of breathtaking and surprising vistas. The landscapes form living works of art into which Hamilton placed follies for dramatic effect.Once visited by the 2nd and 3rd US Presidents, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, Painshill is also fortunate to have His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales as a Royal Patron of the Trust as well as receiving The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.Today, England’s most elegant 18th century landscape garden, Painshill welcomes around 100,000 visitors to come and experience the pleasure gardens."

Beautiful grounds, make sure to walk the whole way around the lake as the views of the garden features are excellent. Reasonably sized gift shop, coffees, ice creams all on offer. Browse the walled garden, lovely examples of fruit and vegetable plants growing in the summer. Lots of events, love music and shows coming up. Interesting crystal cave, which was recently refurbished with every crystal reattached - took about 12 months to complete.
Wonderful attraction really lots to see. Your can walk the whole way round and it's probably about 3 miles. Once you leave the giftshop and cafe you walk through nice woodland. Theirs numerous follies including a temple, grotto, bridges, mill, and tower, theirs also a Turkish tent and great views. The highlight is the grotto through this closes about 430pm.
Fantastic beautiful place to visit. It was a gorgeous surrounding, guided paths with arrows, gift shop and cafes, dogs friendly, great for kids to explore the cave, so calming and especial plants you will see if you know about plants. I would definitely recommend it to visit. Carpark available and free. £10 ticket fees at the current time of posting the review. Picnic area: There are benches everywhere. Beautiful for Wedding photography.
Absolutely gorgeous gardens with a magical feeling. Jazz and a cold drink in the amphitheater looking at the lake beyond the vineyard. Can’t think of a better place to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon
Lovely place with a historical background. Its founder was inspired by XVIII century landscape paintings, and wanted to recreate it. He did! You can spend hours contemplating the landscape, or walk your dog, or have nice family time.
Beautiful walk through Painshill Park, so peaceful and tranquil. Lovely safe easy waking area for all ages to enjoy Helpful friendly staff from reception, restaurant and gift shop. It’s a real must visit and very worthwhile joining and becoming a member Always a pleasure to visit
This was a great walk, lots of things to see. Entrance was £10, and it was quite quiet, so no queue at all. Lovely place for a day out, and you can bring food and drinks in! We saw many people having picnics, etc.
We are members at Painshill and love our weekend walks there. At every point, the views are stunning. The lake and various follies creating a different picture wherever you stand. Please note these photos are from an earlier visit in the summer.
Stunning park for a weekend stroll, really well maintained. The best thing was how well it was sign posted - I’ve been to so many parks and ended up getting lost this was just really well laid out. There were even signs to say why certain sections had been gated off.
We came because of the name and stayed because of the beautiful park! Unfortunately we chose Monday, when the cave is closed, and there are some attractions where you can't get in, but also beautiful ones where you can take pictures. Lovely walking around and discovering the park as well as just enjoying nature!
