Great location, popular with locals so no room in the pub area so we decided to eat. Starter came with main (even though we asked for bread an olives to keep the 2yo busy) all bread was lightly toasted or past its best. Food ok had the special: haddock £14 portion of fish was about 2 fish fingers, very disappointing. Sauce was divine. Better half had the risotto, over cooked and not great. Pub was uncomfortably hot. There's much better food and beer selection at other pubs in the area who charge similar prices. With stopping for the view and a pint though.

Old countryside pub with plenty of charm. Beer was top class with a good choice of real ales. Menu looked nice but didn't sample the food.

Came here for my birthday meal for the first time and the food was amazing, the service was incredible and very good value for money. Veg done to perfection and meals brought out in a timely manner. The staff were lovely and attentive - I would definitely come back and recommend to others. Well worth the 5 stars ✨

We went to pack horse for my daughters birthday. The food was excellent served in a good time tho we don't expect good food to be rushed. The staff were attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much bother. Lovely eating place .I would highly recommend.

After a good 3 mile walk arround the top of Mellor we were both ready for a decent pub meal. The Pack Horse is in a beautiful setting offering fantastic views. The pub inside was warm and welcoming with a large fire burning . The food was exceptional and the service first class. Will definitely be back.
