The best shop in the entire world. Every bit of kit you could want, brilliant, knowledgable staff. Customer service is superb. I had the stuff sack on a mat fail and they sent me a new one in the post immediately. I'm moving house just to be near them.
Terrible customer service in the shoe department this afternoon. Travelled to the store to buy a number of items. Wasn’t acknowledged by either of staff in the shoe department, even when trying on multiple pairs of shoes out of the boxes on the floor. Then stood with a shoe from the wall in my hand for a considerable amount of time. Again no acknowledgement from either member of staff. Other staff members in other parts of the store not busy, chatting with friends and other staff. Neither of the staff asked any other member of staff for help, or said I was waiting to be served. The two members of staff then left the shoe department with the customers they had been serving. However failed to return or send any other member of staff to the department. When one of them finally returned they served a customer that hadn’t been waiting as long as me. Overall spent over 30 minutes in store waiting to be served without a single acknowledgement from anyone. I understand stores can get busy but it was a Monday afternoon and quiet. Also doesn’t matter how busy you are, you should never be too busy to even acknowledge a customer. I honestly expected better service from a family owned business. Todays experience is the single worst customer service I’ve ever had. Very disappointing for someone who prefers to still support bricks and mortar small businesses over the internet.
I've been to Hathersage Twice now. Each time I've made a point of visiting this place. I was there Saturday and bought a Rab Technical T shirt from them. They have a great cafe with very tasty coffee and cakes upstairs. They do other hot meals as well. Customer service is always great. There are lots of climbing and hiking related pictures on the wall. It's got a great feel to it. I really like this place and the staff in the shop downstairs were also really helpful. It's an upmarket store with all your outdoors hiking and climbing kit. It's all high quality gear from reputable brands. Highly recommended.
Fantastic service helping me select the correct size stuff bag. I know it's correct because I utilised identical kit to see if it would work. Price was not the most competitive but service outstanding which is why they continue to get my business.

Great store. They have so many options and people that seem to specialise in specific areas dependent on what you’re there to purchase. They can offer alternatives and advice if they don’t have specifically what you need too. What I was most happy with - I’d spent quite lot of money here yesterday in several visits kept going back for more!. I tested out a camping mat on the night of purchase and when packing it away this morning, the carry bag ripped really easily no problems with the mat! I felt it was a one-off fault in manufacturing as my friend had the same mat and carry bag, but it seems more Durable around the neck. In store, they were quick to pull out a carry bag from another box on the shelf and replace it with no questions asked. Dead happy. Lovely people!
We only used coffee place what is great, outfits at shop are far too expensive for casual hike for pleasure. Can buy map and books if you fancy, that's what I would like recommended, and coffee upstairs, is lovely.
Cafe good, service is quick. A decent choice on the menu. Only issue I am gluten free due to coeliac allergy. They don't have any gluten free bread . Despite the petrol station about 40 steps from the kitchen selling Schar gluten free bread which is very good.
