First off -Very clean and professionally ran buffet. Secondly - options galore!!!!! We were satisfied to the moon and back!!!! This place is the KING of buffets!!!! Lobsters, shrimp made like 5 different ways, crabs, crab legs, good quality sushi, beef ribs …. Just everything you can dream of. Decent prices too!!! I think we paid $27.99 for dinner. You know it’s a good Chinese buffet when there is Chinese customers eating there!! Waiters were so friendly too!
Today was their grand opening, and I’m sure glad I was able to enjoy this delicious buffet on the first day. They have a vast selection of food ranging from Chinese, American, and Japanese. And multiple seafood delicacies available like crab meat, lobster, prawns, shrimp etc just to name a few. I was a little underwhelmed by the quality and selection of desserts, however still a lot of options to choose from. The lunch buffet was $16.99 and I’d say you care certainly getting your moneys worth for that price with all the seafood selections and other great food available. Food was so good I even took a to go box to bring back some for the family which is weighed by the pound. Go try it out for yourself and enjoy! Vegetarian options: Vegetarian dishes available in buffet. Kid-friendliness: Child friendly seats available upon request.
Better than the Buffet that used to be here, but I wouldn’t come again. The food was nice to look at, especially the buns! But it was bland OR definitely contains wasabi. Nothing had labels on it so we couldn’t tell what may or may not have a kick to it. Sushi: California roll, crab roll and shrimp roll were great! Chicken roll was tough, wouldn’t recommend. The remodel: Beautiful! And they have a party room. They keep the place warm- everyone took off their jackets and sweaters. Kids gulping drink and pink in the face, uncomfortable. Kid prices: Adorable! Wish we had taken photos of them measuring our kids. Height determines how much they cost Staff: Very friendly! Waitress was very busy and still came in a timely manner for plates or refills. The host gave us leeway on our “just barely” too tall toddler that barely ate, free.
Excellent Asian buffet in Brandon, especially if you like seafood. Crab, oysters, fish and exotic items like jellyfish and Babylonia lotusa. Sushi bar and Hibachi station. Plenty of Chinese dishes not found on most Chinese buffets. Plenty of space inside. Attentive wait staff and constantly keeping up with popular items. One section for kids of American style food. A definite must for any seafood fan. We will definitely return.
The atmosphere is awesome. It is very well designed and relatively clean. The service was great probably the best I've ever had at a buffet. The only thing is my family and I didn't like the food. I think grocery store sushi is better quality and a lot more tasty, which is pretty sad. My family and I were excited to try this restaurant. But after tasting the food we won't be back. Unfortunately, the food is just not worth the money. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options. Kid-friendliness: Chicken nuggets, pizza, French fries, and a few other kids items. Not to mention, the dessert section is probably the best thing in the restaurant. Parking: My family and I came for lunch and we had to drive around for a minute looking for a parking spot.
This new opened buffet has become my favorite buffet around the whole Tampa bay area. There are several dishes that taste great, even compared to specialty restaurant. Sushi and rolls are also decent and fresh. If you like buffet, sushi and Chinese style food, you can't miss this place! Will be back for more later.
This buffet hasn't been open very long, and it's already having an identity crisis. It was originally supposed to be a Flaming Grill & Modern Buffet as well as a Crab du Jour. There was a coming soon banner that had both of these restaurant names on it for a very long time. I saw a Clipper coupon advertisement for Flaming Grill & Modern Buffet about 2 months ago. But now, it has been renamed Umi Sushi & Seafood Buffet. The buffet prices have also gone up since that original advertisement. Maybe it's a different restaurant than it was a couple of months ago. All skepticism aside, the initial impression was a good one. It's a clean and spacious interior. It's nicely decorated. The booth seating is comfortable with many tables in between. I'm sure it can get overcrowded at peak times. Our experience was a comfortable one since we arrived right at opening time for lunch. The buffet areas were spaced out appropriately. The plates, utensils, and condiments are easily accessible. You're seated, then your drink order is taken, and then you proceed to the buffet. There was a varied mixture of the good, the bad, and the ugly. It's a buffet, so it was nice to explore and try different things. I don't think we've ever had a buffet experience quite like it in this area. I tried thick cut cold seaweed kombu salad for the first time. It was near the snails and the chicken feet. It just tasted like ocean water. There was no savory sauce or anything. I don't recommend it. The snails had no taste either and were very rubbery. The green mussels were served cold in a chili sauce. I think the only thing I liked from that station was the squid. My favorite station was the seafood salad one. The octopus salad and poke salad were very good. Just keep in mind that the names of the dishes may not have matched what was actually underneath it. The octopus salad could have been a different seafood salad. Just refer to my picture. The sushi was okay. I've had better sushi. The pieces of tuna and salmon tataki tasted like it had been torched, and not torched very well. There wasn't much flavor except for a smoky one. There were a couple of fried chicken and catfish dishes that I thought were good. Unfortunately, they were just luke warm so there were a few temperature issues. I think I probably would have been better off with the hibachi which I saw was being cooked to order. They had dim sum and soups as well as familiar Chinese & American dishes. I did like the red bean dumpling from the dim sum station. I would have loved to try the jumbo shrimp, but I can't eat anything that has eyes staring up at me. But it certainly looked fresh, and it was very popular. The desserts were nothing special. Just go there with an open mind and try it for yourself. It seems that more people like the seafood experience at dinner time. I think the lunch price is fair for an AYCE buffet. I may go back if my husband wants to try it for lunch.
Easily the best all you can eat seafood buffet in Tampa Bay area. So many varieties of food to choose from and qualities are all good, especially sushi. Can't wait to come back in the weekends for AYCE Lobster feast ! Food: 4/5
My husband and I decided to try this place at 6:30 on a Sunday night. It was SLAMMED! Over 40 minutes to get a table with people lined up and down the walk like it was a club. Once seated it took us asking three different servers over half an hour to get the sodas we asked for - they were so incredibly busy bussing tables, cleaning, and refilling trays I don't think they had time. People were always swarming any of the crab and lobster that was set down so the trays would be empty in moments, and the dessert bar was always jammed. My husband said the bathroom was also in shambles, but the main area is extremely clean. The food itself was largely VERY good with a lot of authentic flavor and items, like pigs feet. They had a huge variety, even things like stewed oxtail, Thai chicken, ginger and scallion lobster tail... all of it mostly cooked very well. I say "mostly" because I think trying to keep up with the volume of people meant not all the food was always cooked the way it should be because they had to constantly keep refilling it. The oxtail wasn't very tender, for instance, and some pork I took definitely should have been cooked longer. That said, I'm giving this place a 4 rather than a 3 because it was opening weekend and the staff was clearly working amazingly hard trying to hand an unprecedented volume of customers. We'll definitely try it again hopefully on a quieter evening. We remember when this location used to be Tops' Buffet and we're happy to see something new here. We're sure they'll work out the kinks.
There is a large variety of food options available. I have had better tasting Hibachi and Sushi though. It was a little pricey and tips are added on to the bill. So becareful not to double tip by accident.
