After visiting the new location inside the Sandwell Council, I can safely say that Oldbury Library likely isn't really worth visiting only because the cons outweigh the pros. Firstly, it's quite clear they crammed an entire library into a pre-existing room because it's so undersized. In fact, without Google Maps, I could barely locate the library. The amount of books inside it is just rather bleak, it truly takes quite a lot of effort to find anything interesting with their limited selection. Currently, it lacks what made the old library remarkable with limited space for a community environment and a just handful of computers, it's rather forgettable. Additionally, the children's play area is equally tragic with enough space for maybe two children. Now in fairness, the staff are extremely pleasant and hardworking, and they did have a terrific selection of books on sale, and furthermore it's one of few libraries that is actually quiet. The Lounge or setting area is quite large so you could enjoy a nice down. In summary, the library's presence feels hollow with only a few mentions of its local history and barely fulfils its use for the community.
Staff is great and the faciilities are very useful however as a student the noise is actually unbearable, children running around, other people just loudly talking. you can't concentrate properly even if you do for 5 minutes striaght which is a rare occasion you are immediately interrupted some random child screaming about. the computers are good and the books are good as well. overall the library is delightful but the cacophony is a big issue. :

Oldbury Library is an integral part of local community, decently stocked and books of various subjects and literature from across the world available at this Library. You can access internet facility on one of the public computers here , at times you may find people booked in advance to use the computers for browsing. The library also offers services like printing your documents or photocopying your documents for a minimal charges. Some of the staffs here at this library speak more than one language and they are highly people friendly. Recommend this Library if you live in this area of Birmingham, UK.
Every time I've tried to borrow a few books at least one never scans, I have to go to the desk to get it done. Its always too hot in there, not quiet at all as library's are supposed to be because they have put it at the end of a busy corridor and it's open plan. Always seems to be some whiffy undesirables in there too just messing about on the computer's wasting time. Sums Sandwell council up to a tee.
Wonderful receptionist...the stuff are so helpful
Very noisy library. Kids running around screaming, phones not on silent, people on facetime put yah earphones in!! the librarians don't know how to whisper. There is no point calling this a library if people can't keep quiet!! Never been here and been able to concentrate.
