Fantastic house, spotless and with everything you need for a peaceful and restful family vacation. Its central for anywhere in Ayrshire and makes a great base to explore from.Rooms: 5/5

We have just had a great 5 week stay in the Cart Shed from the beginning of December while back in Scotland visiting family.  The cottage was spacious, clean and equipped with everything that we could have possibly wanted or needed.  The Christmas decorations and thoughtful added touches such as welcome gifts and messages were much appreciated. The hosts were very accommodating and flexible to our changing schedule and were really friendly in all communications.  Our sons loved being surrounded by fields of sheep and liked visiting the donkeys in the field nearby.  Would highly recommend and would happily return!

We have family in the area and so we have stayed here at least 4 times now and we are never disappointed. Great location in the country that is a great home base for visiting family and sites around Ayrshire. The accommodations are superbly clean and well equiped. The farm fresh smells and sounds are so relaxing! We’ll be back.Rooms: 5/5

We spent a week in The Byre in October 2021 and loved it so much we came back again in February 2022.  The place is immaculately clean, warm and comfortable and the owner is friendly and accommodating.  There were welcome notes, cake and milk awaiting us on our arrival and lots of different teas and coffees to try too.  The rooms are spacious, clean and welcoming with ample storage and the bathroom and shower room are ideal. The large living room is tastefully decorated with plenty of comfortable seating, some of which had been replaced since our first visit, TV, Blu-ray player and plenty books and games for all ages.  The kitchen is well sized and well stocked with every item required including crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, and cleaning supplies. The patio to the rear is enclosed and with table and bench and grass bank, ideal for the summer. I'm sure we'll be back again!

This is our second stay at Old Rome and it won’t be our last. The facilities and amenities are superb. Everything you need to have a comfortable and inviting stay is generously provided.  It was a home away from home for my family and it made our holiday such an enjoyable experience. We were able to self cater our meals, launder our clothes, and come back after busy days to a cozy and relaxing space.  My children loved it so much, they asked if we could stay forever.  I will continue to highly recommend Old Rome to anyone visiting Scotland.

We stayed in "The Cart Shed" for a week in May 2021 and the booking process from start to finish was seamless. On arrival the cottage was spotless and, alongside the personal touches given i.e. home baked cake, welcome message on chalkboard and various others, this made our stay a memorable one. We were in the area to visit family which was perfect for us but the location and experience meant that we have already booked to stay again in July. We would highly recommend this as the perfect base for exploring Ayrshire and beyond. Many thanks to Amanda for all the assistance.

My wife and I stayed in the Cart Shed, which is one of the self catering cottages, with our three children 8, 5 and 3 over new year 2018/19. We were hugely impressed with the cottage which was immaculate and had everything that we needed for our stay. The owners included some lovely finishing touches including a Christmas tree and other decorations which our children loved as well Scottish treats. The photos online look great but don’t do the accommodation full justice. Couldn’t rate highly enough and looking forward to coming back.

We have just spent a great week in the Cart Shed. The cottage was lovely and cosy with everything you need for a weeks stay, plus some welcome extras such as homemade cake and flowers. Lots to see and do in the local area and it's only 30 minutes to visit Glasgow and an hour to Loch Lomond. We would definitely recommend!Rooms: 5/5

My Aunt and Cousins and I stayed here last Sept 2019, we were in Scotland from Canada for a family wedding . With the 5 of us this was a perfect spot to have a house to ourselves and use it as a home base for all of our travels. I loved the fact that we got to stay in a beautiful little country spot with the donkey and geese across the lane and the beautiful little creek close by. The village of Gatehead is right up the lane and we ate often at the Cochrane Inn as well as using the kitchen facilities in the Cottage we rented. Overall the place was lovely! Well maintained and comfortable! The beds were great, lots of space for all of us, living room with TV available , wifi throughout and a lovely little backyard to sit and enjoy. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone and it made our trip very enjoyable.  Thank you!

Fantastic  holiday cottage! Best equipped we have had! Very homely with lots of lovely little touches. Lots of toys and games for our 4 year old grandaughter.  Lots to see and do in the area.  We visited bute, kelburn castle and gardens. Lots of lovely beeches Would not hesitate to return. We all had a lovely stay!
