Exceptional care when l came in with a fractured ankle after falling on black ice. On 20th Jan 2023 I am 77 years of age so strength in my arms not good. To get me out of car my husband was able to borrow a wheelchair. After x-ray l was put in a plaster. I was found a walking frame rather than crutches. So once again a huge thank you to all of you from the moment l arrived. Gilly
Really lovely staff. I visited today for an iron infusion and was greeted by Jo and Karen who would look after me, whilst I was there. I was given details about what to expect, how long I'd be there and made to feel like I was a human being and not one in one out. Comfy chair in my own private room, cup of tea and a television to watch. To most that doesn't look like a lot but I've been to many hospitals in my life and not had this level of help.
The staff are great, starting at reception, helpful, professional, make you confident your treatment will be 100%the best.
I visted the Knee Clinic yesterday. It was very helpful and all my questions were answered. The exercises were very good. It was useful being able to share experiences with people who had had the same procedure a knee/partial replacement. The Physio was patient, helpful and friendly and I would highly recommend going to this class.
My husband had a fall and we returned to the hospital for X-rays - the staff could not have been kinder or more helpful - in particular Nurse Selina who was extremely professional and explained everything very carefully even calling us at home with various results - well done to all.
Sadly my experience of Shepton Mallet community hospital today was very poor. I was left sitting in my car outside for over two hours because I was asked to do so because I was told to self isolate last week even though my advanced test results were negative and I did three lateral flow tests through out the week and did one 30 min before I visited the hospital. I had to go because I have an eye infection that was making my eye very painful and a lump in the inside of my eyelid. I was waiting in my car with the windows closed with a temperature of over 28°. After sitting in my car for over two hours I decided to go in to reception who didn't even know that I was waiting although there was only one other patient in the outpatients. Obviously I was upset because I was severely dehydrated and couldn't understand how they didn't even realise that I was waiting outside even though that's what they asked me to do. When I rang the hospital initially I explained the situation to the nurse that I didn't have Covid but I had I an infection and they were happy to see me and I was told just to sit in my car and wait and wait and wait and wait. On other occasions when I have been to Shepton Mallet community hospital I have found their service to be very professional and excellent but on this occasion they really did let me down. Very disappointed that the nurse in charge of the casualty today did not do her job properly. I am pretty disgusted really. I do hope that the hospital managers read this to make sure that this sort of thing does not happen again.
My wife had cataract op this morning. Staff, under Claire Wilson, were fantastic. No hanging arround. Care and attention was outstanding. Put us at ease the moment we arrived. Visit lasted hour and a half. I had full breakfast in cafe whilst waitng. Great value for money. Well served. Thanks to all concerned at the hospital. Anyone needing the op should do so without any fear. Keith Rudyard
Absolutely first class treatment from the word go! I was welcomed and treated with warmth care and professionalism and would like to thank all staff involved in my arthroscopy this week. The anaethetist and his wonderful assistant and the nurse who put in my cannula were kind and good humoured - removing any anxiety. The surgeon was also so reassuring and made me feel very safe and confident. Michelle who looked after me post operatively was the epitome of what a professional nurse should be and deserves a special mention. I feel privileged to have been in such a brilliantly run treatment centre which should be a flagship for the NHS at its best. Thankyou all so very much.
Excellent treatment both medically and as a human being! Staff on reception helpful, speedy and reassuring. Nurses and staff in general so helpful, efficient and professional. Explained exactly what the problem was, showed me on the screen after Xray, and gave excellent follow-up advice, I cannot speak highly enough of the Community Hospital and wish to thank you all very much for your care and support throughout - with an extra special mention for brilliantly persistent Doreen. A real star - but then you all are stars.
Terrible. Incompetent doctor who told us he didn't know the name of the drugs he prescribes and then told us that 'if you speak nicely to the pharmacist they will give you the right penicillin you want' needless to say he prescribed the wrong penicillin after we had been really clear about what type we wanted even giving him the name and the pharmacist of course couldn't do anything about it. This meant our 7 year old son was then left without the right drugs and continued to be in a fever .
