A clean and beautiful little train station that serves as the gateway to the northern part of Dartmoor National Park.
The Okehampton to Exeter railway line reopened in November 2021 and has proven very popular starting with a 2 hourly service now increased to hourly.nThe station has excellent local bus service connections near and far Bude & Launceston etc and are timed to meet most trains.nThe station is wonderfully decorated in Southern railway Green which is a nod to it's former owners and the Atlantic coast Express days. The gift shop is open most days with some fantastic memorabilia and souvenirs, the Cafe offers hot and cold food and there is even a manned ticket hatch to purchase your tickets from.
Nice pretty station, 1 train to Exeter an hour. Unfortunately the toilets were disgusting, looked like they had been trashed. Toilet paper all over the loos and in the sinks. The cafe is excellent. They have the “old style” signs here and an old ticket office not in use that you can see from the cafe. There’s also a small museum here.
Absolutely brilliant this line has been reopened as part of the National Rail network! They've thankfully kept the traditional styling. There are regular services, recently increased to hourly Mon-Sat a bit less on Sundays, through to Exeter.nOne side of the station is for BOTH from and to Exeter this is currently the end of the line, the other side being a museum to the old railway line. Super-friendly volunteers staff that, so pay them a visit if you have the time.nLet's hope we see more of the old railway network reopening.nStation parking is £2/day, and you can probably find somewhere on the street too just try to avoid annoying the locals for their parking!
Beautiful well kept station with regular services to and from Exeternn15 minute walk from the town centre with immediate access to the Granite Way
