Nestled on the west coast and surrounded by miles of dramatic shores and beautiful countryside, the seaside town of Oban is a great place for a holiday. Often called the 'Gateway to the Isles', many people travel to Oban as part of a west coast adventure.nn*Welcome to the Seafood Capital of Scotland and the Gateway to the Isles*nnOban, Lorn & the Isles is a fascinating part of Argyll & the Isles with an amazing range of things to see and do, many of which you may never have done before.nAs you approach you glimpse this bustling port from the top of the ‘Bealach-an-Righ’. As you sweep down the hill towards the expanse of the bay, the view opens up before you and one begins to appreciate why Oban has developed into Scotland’s most popular west-coast holiday town.nnGo island hopping, walk in the wilderness, breathe pure air, watch magnificent sunsets and see starry skies that will take your breath away. A lovely little town which has a beautiful railway station, which is a really convenient place to catch a train from if you’re in Oban and wish to catch a train. A wee Bonnie delight. The best station Oban has to offer.
I experienced the most unpleasant man working behind the desk today at Oban train station.nI love Oban and everyone I've met there except for this unprofessional, rude, and argumentative member of staff I had the displeasure of having to encounter today at the train station.nnHe was abrupt in his manner, most unpleasant, unwelcoming, most definitely not friendly, miserable, difficult to talk to, unhelpful, and an angry man.nHe has no people skills whatsoever and needs some lessions in communication and customer service.nnI do not know how he has a job, and if he has not had a recent appraisal of his work, he needs one.nnHe gives Oban a bad name.nI feel sorry for anyone who has to encounter him, and if this was to be the first person a visitor spoke to coming off a train, it would be a very unpleasant start to their visit.nnAlso, bathrooms are always out of order and closed off with a barrier so you can't enter.nnNo vending machines to but snacks and drinks prior to long journeys ahead with no food card on the train.
Hello Tony, this review is just for you.nIt's hard to think about getting up every morning and going to work, but since we're not wealthy heirs, I have to do it just like apparently you do.nYour office job also involves interacting with people, which means helping to solve the requests of ScotRail passengers and, why not, even those who have bought the Spirit of Scotland Pass.nOur requests with a good number of “excuse me,” “can you help us,” and “please” were simple: reserve two seats for three different routes.nTony, why did you keep sighing? Why did you tell us, “Do it online next time”? Why didn't you say goodbye after doing your strenuous work of pressing 10 keys on the computer keyboard?nWe told you that ScotRail customer service emailed us saying we couldn’t book them online, and you sighed. Do you want to see the email?nYou’ve got a golden job, doing whatever you want, and apparently, no one checks on you.nThanks, Tony, for ruining the good name of Scots and their courtesy.nUntil next time!
here is a good place to look out the quite harbour with very interesting surroundings and the smart Oban city and the McCaig's tower
