Post op 1/2/23 Gall bladder removal. Lovely experience! As an NHS patient referred here the staff from housekeeper, nurse, band 2/3 and surgical team were amazing. However my post op nurse was not very sympathetic or bothered I was post op and in pain and made my feel like I was lying about my pain! The band 2 or 3 gentleman comforted me while I think my nurse was eating crisp while I was crying! Anyway back to the positives! Lovely private clean room, caring staff and I was kept informed of what was happening around me. Thank you
Update: I contacted the email address that is suggested in all the review responses and all they did was give me a time series of events, not addressing any of the issues at all. Response via email was consistent with the poor service experienced when calling/attending the hospital. Steer clear if possible. Hands down the worst private hospital experience I’ve ever had. Referred by private doctor for an mri, yet oaklands couldn’t see me for weeks. Process was delayed because it turned out I also needed an X-ray. The issue was not only the time I had to wait for the appointment, but they say it can take 3 weeks to get results. The 3 appointments I had with them they were all late. Today my appointment was at 6:30 and was still waiting at 7:00. It’s difficult to get through to them on the phone, and the different departments clearly don’t talk to each other. I was going to cancel and go with another hospital due to the long quoted results times but they called and ensured me my results would be sent in a week, on the way out from the scan they advised it would be three weeks. The person on the phone clearly lied to make sure I didn’t go elsewhere. They advised they normally have a mirror so it doesn’t feel too tight in the machine, but they couldn’t find it..
Ive had the best nursing team ever. Especially the aftercare. Ive got a lot of immunity problems with my blood , therefore my knee wound would not heal. The operation has made my mobility 90% better . Ive seen and been in the hospital 3 times a week, the nursing staff are amazing and the surgeon whom has been consistent in my aftercare, thankfully my wound is healing now after my diagnosis, and meds from my GP thats helped. Gonna miss these guys when im healed. Oaklands staff and reception team. Support team and everyone that works there. Well done xxx
I seriously hope that being referred here as an NHS patient is the reason for such poor service. I hope it's different for those who can afford to pay privately to jump the queue. Appointment times don't seem to matter. Be prepared to wait and wait and wait. No explanation. No reason. Even 9am appointments are running late!?!? -How when they've only just opened up! Appointments postponed, then postponed again and then cancelled all together. The initial telephone consultation was brief and it wasn't a surprise to find at that early stage he'd incorrectly diagnosed me, scanned the wrong part of my body and then had to fabricate an excuse. There seems to be a like for CT scanning everything when it turns out a simple Ultrasound would provide the same information...... and why the devil not when the NHS is footing the bill! The fragmentation of care is ridiculous -waiting for scans, then results, then follow up appointments months and month in between. Good luck!
Had a total knee replacement on the 1st December 2022. The staff from the top to the bottom were absolutely fantastic. Nothing was to much trouble and they were totally professional. I would recommend this hospital to anyone.
Most incompetent hospital possible. Cancelled my knee surgery on the day and at the very last minute, even after thorough pre-op testing and questioning, sign off from physio, consultant and anaesthetist that morning. Sat in my gown, about to go to surgery the anaesthetist changed his mind and insists I see a heart consultant first. My Dad has a heart condition, which I don’t have and had produced a letter saying so. I have no history of cardiac disease and had a also had tests to check this when they screened for the gene which I didn’t possess. All this, including my thyroid condition and raised bmi was discussed at pre-op and signed off. The day after my op was cancelled I received a phone call asking me to come in the next day for surgery. I was excited as I assumed they’d rectified the non existent problem. Nope, they’d mistakenly rang the wrong list of people to advise of surgery, of which I was at the top of the list. They promised to do an urgent cardiac referral, which never happened, and now conveniently have no record of why the operation was cancelled. Informed my GP who over a year later haven’t been informed of any of this. Received a letter yesterday asking me to forward their request to my GP as apparently I’m not on record at the GP they sent my letter to for why I’d be chasing a cardiac referral as they have no record of this. Attached to the letter was a compliment slip for the GP they sent the letter to - which was not my GP - even though my GP’s address is on the top of the letter! Sheer incompetence.
Absolute joke, trying to speak to anyone at this place is like trying to get blood from a stone. I have rung multiple times trying to speak to a secretary and to customer service, after a representative of the hospital called my elderly mother and told her that she needs to get medical records from Tameside hospital and if she doesn't then her operation will be cancelled, this caused unnecessary alarm and distress to my mother. It is not the job of the patient to seek and provide medical records. So after calming my mother I decided to give Oakland a call to speak to someone about what has happened. Well each time I rang I was placed on hold for various lengths of time only for the call to be ended suddenly. 1st call 25 minutes 2nd call 15 minutes 3rd call 30 minutes 4th call 10 minutes Final call 18 minutes Like I said absolute joke
I feel like I’m being punished. ENT referral - the doctor Agrawal found it very difficult to listen to me, kept talking over me and offered no solution to my pain and discomfort. He self-admittedly told me that his patients often get upset with him, also made numerous anti-b.l’ack comments, it seems he is lacking self-awareness and has delusions of grandeur. Seems he’s used to getting away with saying and doing whatever he wants. I asked to change doctors and now the only other ENT specialist in the hospital keeps cancelling my appointments. I’m at a loss with this hospital, I’m having such an awful experience with them.
I had an appointment with Dr Naseem Zaid, when attending my consultation she didn’t show any care or compassion. Dr Zaid asked “do you know why your here?” I work in Nursing, so I am aware of Priavcy and Dignity and there also wasn’t any of this! Firstly she closed half the curtain and left the other half open whilst I was getting changed, then opened the consultation door, so who ever was walking past would of seen me getting changed! There was a thin peice of roll on the bed, nothing for me to cover myself during the examination, to which I had to rip some off to cover myself for my own dignity! Then basically just told me to “open” to start the procedure. I was never asked if I would like a chaperone to be present during my examination, to which one was present. Nothing was explained, once I got ready to sit down for this to be explained to me what she found, she just told me I was done and I can go. Dr Naseem Zaid didn’t show any compassion, she spoke with a monotone and doesn’t seem to care about her patients. She was very rude and disrespectful to me and made me feel humiliated. If I wasn’t aware of the way you are supposed to be treated, and this was my first examination I would never want another again.
This hospital is a disgrace I had a steroid injection in my shoulder in July and was supposed to be seen 6 weeks later I was finally offered an appt for December over 5 MTHS later. It's a private hospital but takes NHS patients I certainly wouldn't want to pay. They are impossible to contact.
