I am extremely shocked by the rude manner and attitude of the reception staff. Having called today for an appointment for my daughter I was told “there’s no appointments what do you expect after Easter bank holiday weekend, go to the walk in center”. The tone and manner taken when my little girl needed treatment was appalling. How dare they speak to me this way. What they didn’t know is that my daughter is an ambassador for multiple medical charities and works hard because of her numerous health conditions - and these people are exactly the reason why we campaign for change. Train your staff to speak to people better.
We had an appointment today at Oaklands. Thankfully we are registered at Sun Lane Surgery but if I understood well, their nurse was at Oaklands today. My 3 years old son was very poorly, he had high temperature as well. We got the prescription, went to Paydens but we were told that they are out of this medication. We went back to Oaklands and the nurse asked me to check other pharmacies and if we have no luck we should go back and she will prescribe us something else. Long story short we had to go back but the blond lady receptionist was not helpful at all. Tried to send us to Sun Lane surgery and avoid us seeing the nurse again. Again, I was with my poorly 3 years old and I was instructed by the nurse. She had no manner and at the end she was acting like I should be thankful for getting medication for my son. They are asking patients to be respectful yet they are the ones being disrespectful.
Oaklands is a brilliant Health Centre. Staff are polite, efficient, friendly, supportive and helpful. They prioritise appointments accordingly and I and my family have always been offered appointments that are appropriate to our needs at the time. Sometimes this means being seen immediately and, at other times, in a few days or weeks - sometimes with a doctor and sometimes with a nurse practitioner. Their econsult option is easy to access with speedy response times. Online ordering of repeat prescriptions is super convenient. Highly recommend
I think the results on Google are somewhat skewed by the albeit very unfortunate bad experiences people seem to have had plus the fact that people are more likely to leave a bad review than a positive one because they are upset.nAll I can say is that my experience has been very positive - admittedly all I needed was to see a Nurse rather than trying to see a Doctor but it all worked seamlessly and I received the care I needed.nMaybe my experience would be different if I had an urgent need and had to call at peak time, but I think it is important to leave feedback when the experience is positive for a sense of balance
Absolutely useless if you want to speak to anyone.nThe most annoying answerphone ever, which just goes on an on in an effort, no doubt , to put you off phoning the surgery. When you do get past that, no one answers.nI don't think they really care about patients anymore and just think of them as an annoyance.nNot sure if they've got any Doctors at the surgery, as I haven't seen one for years.
